Did however give a bit of complaint about how dealers charge labor by the "book"... seems to me this sometimes gouges customer for example... "book" called for "9" hrs labor to do this job... job was done within 3 hrs... that's quite a difference.. I question whether whoever comes up with these times is competent? Another example is the " book" calls for 2 hrs "per" axle to do brake job... those are ridiculous time frames.. in my day I could do full 4 wheel brake job including turning drums or rotors in 1 1/2 hrs.. in and out the door... if it takes these times to do these jobs they're not very efficient... just my observations from my experiences More
Diagnose/replace failing water pump; oil/filter change I informed the Service Advisor, Justin Piland, my 2011 Buick Lacrosse CXL was leaking coolant on the passenger side. Justin let me know they would do I informed the Service Advisor, Justin Piland, my 2011 Buick Lacrosse CXL was leaking coolant on the passenger side. Justin let me know they would do a coolant system pressure test to see where leaks occur. I asked for an estimate of service. When Justin returned to the waiting area, he called me aside, and let me know the water pump needed replacement and various seals/gaskets as well. With an oil/filter change, the estimate was $1,300.00! I had done some water pump repair searches online before coming to Scranton Motors, so I knew this amount was quite high. However, in the past, Scranton has corrected problems for this car shown in Service Bulletins, so I thought give them the business. A loaner car was arranged which I had to pay for (not typical with past services here) and I left the dealership within a half hour. The next day, Justin called to give me a parts update and let me know the mechanic found a crack in the exhaust manifold. The repair would be done under warranty at no cost to me, so I agreed to do the fix. I was very grateful for the warranty repair, an estimated $800.00 plus job! While the overall cost for the water pump job was high, I was pleased with the additional warranty repair and feel confident about the work done. I believe everything was handled professionally and effectively. More
