Oscar was very welcoming, but took over an hour for them to change my blinker bulb with an appointment. This was my first experience at Scranton Motors to service my 2019 Buick Encore. At the time of the service event, this vehicle had only 12,030 miles and was the second oil change since the purchase. service my 2019 Buick Encore. I visited your dealership a few weeks prior with a family member who purchased a 2021 GMC truck from Scranton Motors and was impressed with the sales team. So with that in mind, I decided to try your service department. I informed service advisor Oscar, who was very cordial and friendly, to change any necessary filters if needed. To my surprise, I was advised that the cabin air filter was replaced due to the dark discoloration. When I questioned the need to replace the filter at only 12,000 miles, I was informed that perhaps harsh driving conditions coupled with driving on dirt roads and pollen would have an affect on the life of the cabin filter. This vehicle has never seen a dirt road or harsh driving conditions! I was not given the opportunity to view the condition of the filter removed from my vehicle, an informative customer service trust opportunity missed. I did research through other Buick dealers learning that the Encore cabin filter is a carbon filter which is naturally discolored. Was there an error made by the service technician in evaluating this filter? Should I anticipate the additional cost of 118.49 every 12,000 miles or every other oil change? I have a 2018 Mazda CX-5 which is serviced regularly at a Mazda dealer. The Mazda cabin filter did not need replacement until 26,000 and is driven under the same exact conditions and environment. The cost for parts and labor to replace that cabin filter was only $48. In addition, I was also surprised that Scranton Motors charged $24.95 to rotate the tires when most dealers routinely offer this as a courtesy at the time of the scheduled oil change. These are the reasons for a poor customer service rating. It’s all about trust and value, especially when it comes building customer loyalty. If Scranton Motors is truly concerned about customer satisfaction, I would expect to receive an acknowledgement thereof.
