Mr. Canada had previously called and I spoke to him. He inquired about the gear shift having excessive play, the check engine light being on, the third brake light being out, the airbag recall, and the driver seat heater not working. The gearshift was setting a code that had the check engine light on, so I quoted him the cost for the repair, and also advised him that the part was on backorder. I also advised him of the repair cost for the seat heater(declined), the third brake light(approved), and I also informed him of an oil leak that the technician found during the inspection(approved). We got the airbag and the gearshift parts in unexpectedly soon. Got the work completed as soon as possible after getting all the parts that we were waiting on. I called the customer and told them that it was ready to pick up. When Mr. Canada showed up to get the car, he did come in and let me know that the EPC light was on when he checked it. So I myself went out and checked. The EPC nor the check engine lights were on when I got in the car and started it, so I went and performed a test drive myself. When I got back from my test drive, I performed a key cycle and found that the check engine light came on. I then took the vehicle to a different technician and had him check it. He found that the water pump and thermostat housing was setting a code that turned the check engine light on. I discounted the parts and labor and gave Mr. Canada the price. He approved the work and then I ordered the parts we didn't have. The water pump and thermostat housing repair just got completed as I am typing this. I am going to have the car driven again to make sure no warning lights come back. We appreciate our customers and strive to provide a fair, knowledgeable and detailed experience. We do aim for Mr. Canada to be pleased upon his return.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience with our service department. Ms. Howard came in on the 17th of April for check engine light, jerking while driving, and a roaring noise diagnosis. We replaced the N80 valve and charcoal canister to correct the check engine light. I recommended the right front wheel bearing to correct the roaring noise, which she declined due to not being warranty. I did speak with her yesterday after I got this email and Ms. Howard let me know that the check engine light had come back on. She had it scanned by a friend with a scanner and was told that it was the same code that was stored when we had it on the 17th. She also stated that the car had started jerking again while she was driving, along with the light being back on. We would be glad to check the vehicle out again, as our repairs are warrantied through our dealership, however I understand that Ms. Howard has since moved out of state.

Serra Volkswagen responded

This customer brought her vehicle in on March 1 for a driveability issue. It needed a fuel injector replacement, which is a lengthier repair. She did get upset when I told her that there were some parts needed to complete the repair that weren't initially priced out, which added approximately $60.00 to her total. I also informed her that I was unaware of the added parts until the repair was completed. However, I did discount her bill to match what was orginally agreed upon price wise. It did take us a while to get the work completed due to scheduling of incoming customers. Over this amount of time, we should have communicated more with the customer. The communication was a downfall on our behalf and we are striving to make communication with our customers a top priority.
