I took my 26K-mile 2017 Prius into Shelor Toyota service dept for a hybrid software recall and simple oil change on 1/7/2021. The software recall was apparently handled without issue, but the oil change was an astonishing $60...for an OIL CHANGE. After having heard concerns from coworkers about Shelor's service dept., I checked under the car before I drove off to make sure all the shields, etc. had been reinstalled, and saw where the service tech had spilled oil all over the axle and lower control arm and had not bothered to clean it up. I took photos in case they tried to play it off like the 26K-mile engine was leaking oil from elsewhere. Does a little spilled oil like that hurt anything? No, of course not. But it makes any sane person question the quality of the rest of the work and the culture of the workforce. Did my oil pan plug get stripped (like this was a Jiffy Lube or something) and was the plastic oil filter cartridge cover torqued like it was supposed to be, or was it overtorqued and cracked, or the sealing o-ring placed improperly? All questions now on my mind because some flat-rate numbskull couldn't be bothered to take 30 seconds to wipe up his/her mess. The spillage plus the outlandish oil change price is enough to ensure I will only ever come back to this Toyota dealer for warranty work only, and will handle the rest of the work myself like I ordinarily do for my other vehicles and tractors. Heaven forbid I ever need some serious work like a head-gasket or *gulp* hybrid system work. I had hoped this visit to Shelor Toyota service would help prove my perceptions about "stealerships" wrong, but they only helped confirm them. More

I drive 25 miles to get service done here rather than going to a closer place. I am always treated with respect, the waiting area is clean and comfortable, and they don’t push me to get more work done o going to a closer place. During the pandemic, they were taking extra precautions with cleaning and spacing people out. Everyone had on a mask, and there was a guy spraying what i assume was a disinfectant, as well as keeping the doors open. I appreciate all of that. I felt safer than at a grocery store, for sure. I feel like they take care of their customers. More

Best car buying experience ever. I drove from Texas (in my 10 year old, 220,000+ miles Highlander) to visit family in Salem for Christmas. I had planned on buying a new Highlander when I got back to Houst my 10 year old, 220,000+ miles Highlander) to visit family in Salem for Christmas. I had planned on buying a new Highlander when I got back to Houston, and was looking at them online. On a whim, I decided to ask for a quote on a 2021 Highlander Platinum edition. Stephanie, the internet sales manager, sent me a very attractive out the door price, so I decided to go take a look. Brian Love was my sales person, and he jumped thru hoops to earn my business. I didn’t have a checkbook with me, so he let me make a large down payment using my credit card. He also was able to get me the special financing rate and the additional rebate, when it was supposed to be one or the other. The only thing missing on the Highlander I selected were the roof-top cross bars. I absolutely had to have them because I had a cargo box that I needed to get back to Houston. He couldn’t guarantee that they would arrive before I had to drive home, but since he had just bought the exact same car a week earlier, he said he would take the cross bars off of his Highlander had have them installed on mine if necessary. That didn’t end up being necessary, but I really appreciated the offer. Great service, great price and great car. I’m so glad I decided to check out Shelor Toyota! More

Even if my truck was dirty coming in to the shop doesn’t mean it’s ok for them to dirty it up; I’m the one that pays for it. First, my truck is still like new except for hand washing it right now. Whoever put in the new roof strips (black strips on either side of the roof) obviously didn’t care about getting a customer’s vehicle dirty. I opened all four truck doors before I left Shelor & there were dirty shoe prints on each door sill and on the carpet. The passenger front had dirty shoe prints on the door sill, the carpet, AND partly on the side of the cloth seat. It was ridiculous to me that more care wasn’t taken by the workers. Also, I have been talking to them about condensation being in the inside of my windshield, so I guess they tested around the windows because all of my windows were nasty, as if soap or something had been poured over them from roof down and just left to dry. I was seriously disappointed in how dirty my truck was after this service. In spots, it was as if someone had rubbed a cloth (or their belly) against my windows on the outside to make them look disgustingly dirty. I went back in the service area and asked if they had wet paper towels to clean the dirt up off my door sills and carpet and seat & I was given some cleaning cloths that they had in the service dept., instead. Mighty nice of them, huh?! I sure couldn’t take the truck through the car wash right after they put those black strips on my roof, so I had to deal with the mess that was made by whomever in service. I was highly disappointed. The only nice thing I can say is that, the service person that I always talk to when scheduling work or when I arrive, Eric, is always polite and friendly.
