The vehicle was brought in with an engine concern, bought from a non-Subaru dealership. The engine disassembled and inspected by Subaru of America representatives and determined to "not be a matter for warranty". The client was given a loaner vehicle to drive while he tried to get his aftermarket warranty or the selling dealership to cover the repair. After an extended time of waiting for his selling dealer and warranty to make a decision, with a loaner vehicle provided, an offer of goodwill was made by Subaru of America to cover 50% of the cost of the repair. The client, his selling dealer and the warranty company have come to an agreement for the remainder of the cost of repair. During the ,who is paying, period of time several calls were received from the selling dealer trying to "make a deal" and trying to get Subaru of America to cover the repair. Once the final approval to repair was provided and repair funds were authorized, parts were ordered and work began on the car after the work that was already in process. Each engine repair is unique as a variety of parts may or may not be necessary and you do not always know the full scope of parts needed until the rebuild is taking place. At that time, additional parts may be required to be ordered. During the wait for the additional parts, work is continued on the same job , if possible, or on other jobs also in the workshop. This can create a delay in installing the parts once they arrive as another repair may take priority based on promise time or how far the other repair has progressed. This scenario is common in repair facilities that perform large scale repairs. The repairs on Mr. Long's vehicle were also delayed to process a higher priority repair on a vehicle that experienced a failure and the client was visiting from outside the state of Georgia. The decision was made to complete the out-of-state vehicle to enable that client to return home, while Mr. Long continued to drive the loaner provided. I spoke to Mr. Long the same day he posted his review and let him know I would rather the repair take a longer period of time and be done correctly, rather than rush through an engine rebuild.

In regards to the review posted by Mr. Thomas Van Galder, I feel that Subaru of Gwinnett has been unfairly portrayed. Anyone who purchases a new vehicle will have that Manufacturer’s New Vehicle Warranty, which states time, mileage, and coverage(s). In this case, the Subaru warranty covers 3 years/36k miles. The WRX to which Mr. Van Galder is referring was brought to our dealership in extremely poor mechanical condition. In order to best serve the customer, Subaru of Gwinnett had a Subaru of America Warranty Inspector come out to review the vehicle. It was determined by the Manufacturer (Subaru of America) that the vehicle was in fact abused and therefore would not be covered under Manufacturer Warranty. This was determined after the engine was diagnosed (by complete engine tear down inspection) and reviewed by both Subaru of America and Subaru of Gwinnett. At the point when the Manufacturer determines that the vehicle is not covered by the Manufacturer’s Warranty, we, as the Dealer, have no further recourse. So, yes, Mr. Hoffman did have to give Mr. Van Galder the news that the Manufacturer would not honor the Manufacturer’s warranty due to the determined abuse by the customer. Also, Subaru of Gwinnett apologizes for any perceived lapse in communication. During the entire course of the inspection and diagnosis process by Subaru of Gwinnett and Subaru of America, a service vehicle was provided to Mr. Van Galder, free of charge. Regarding this unusual circumstance, I believe that Subaru of Gwinnett and Mr. Herb Hoffman gave Mr. Van Galder very good service. Executive General Manager Subaru of Gwinnett Steve K Kendrick
