In 2016, I purchased what I thought would be a nice reliable vehicle from a well known dealership for my new, long work commute. I was very very wrong and ended up almost dying and putting others in harms way on multiple occasions because of it. Feel free to share this. I purchased from Joe Lacey, a nice chap, clearly a swindler though, a 2011 VW Jetta SE, simple, 70K miles on it, and felt confident. Lots of people had VW's and loved them. A month into my new purchase, which was at the limit of how much I could afford, I started having problems with it stalling while driving, immediately after exiting the freeway, or jolting with the RPM gauge going nuts when at stops. I brought it in to VW. Simple fix and out the door. Guess what? The next time I stalled out on the freeway a month later while going 70 with my brakes not working and me frantically trying to restart the car. This also happened on Woodward as I sailed through a red light, blaring my horn, hazards on, praying. I took it in again. In summation, they kept my car over a month, thought it was fine, handed it back. Winter passed, but in the summer, guess what was back! And now my warranty was done. So after a slightly pigheaded man did a diagnostic and charged me $75 for the same issue, he thought it needed a new computer. Really? Under 90,000 miles? And mind you, it stalled in the driveway on the way out. This started a quest of contacting the Attorney General, BBB, FTC, NHTSA, WXYZ, and more. They "fixed" it again, of course, since the AG is pressuring them. Nope. So I contacted VW North American President and Suburban CEO to try to get some assistance. Both offered me piddly cash credits towards a newer vehicle, and making it seem like they were cutting me a deal or doing me a favor. Guess what? I went to a totally different Nissan dealer and got offered the same offer so clearly, they were only looking to line their pockets on a deal I couldn't even afford. After getting hosed time and time again, I reached out to a different VW dealer, desperate for even a repair as I had years of payments left, couldn't afford a trade in, and couldn't consciously sell it to an unknown purchaser and get that potential blood on my hands. After a few days, they told me they were advised by VW NOT TO HELP ME. Are you kidding me? Another winter passes and now I've started making advanced payments and just accepting the impending issue but after 6 stalls in 2 days on Maple Rd, I reached out to a different Mom and Pop mechanic shop who specializes in foreign cars and in 1 day, just 1 day, they fixed the car, including replacing the same components as VW. So not only was I sold an unsafe car, but had multiple unsafe repairs with clearly shotty parts. I thank God I found this other shop. If this review even prevents 1 person from being made to feel like a crazy, pain in the xxx, inconvenient, unwanted victim of this hellhole, then I know I will have done the right thing. Please, do not buy your vehicle here or have it serviced here. Your life may literally depend on it. # of times I could have died or put my life at risk is not worth anyone else feeling stuck in the same situation. More
Used VW from Suburban Imports Second time I bought a vehicle from this dealership in a short period of time. Their vast inventory, competitive pricing and good financing conditions Second time I bought a vehicle from this dealership in a short period of time. Their vast inventory, competitive pricing and good financing conditions made it unnecessary to visit another dealer in person (except for upfront online research). If you are in the market for a used Nissan, Mazda or VW - these are the guys to check out. More

I actually started at a different dealership in the motor mall and wandered over to suburban where Josh was waiting to greet us. He asked the right questions and really got to know my needs before making any suggestions. He found me the car I didn’t even know was meant for me! I never felt out of my comfort zone or pressured to spend more than the range I came in with and couldn’t be happier. Everyone else we interacted with in the office was just as friendly...for someone who was terrified of the whole car buying experience they really know how to treat you. I highly recommend!! More
Surburban experience I had already some pleasant experiences with Suburban in the past, but this was the first time we bought a used / pre-certified vehicle from them. I had already some pleasant experiences with Suburban in the past, but this was the first time we bought a used / pre-certified vehicle from them. Our sales person, James, was truly professional. He took the time to go over options, explained things thoroughly and was patiently accomodating our decision-making process (incl. pulling up two additional vehicles for test drives). With his guidance we ended up with a vehicle we are truly excited about. Setting up financing was also a breeze. Combining their competitively priced inventory with a pleasant sales experience such as demonstrated by James makes Suburban our first choice for car shopping. We can only highly recommend Suburban and James in particular. More

Unfortunately that Jetta's check engine light came on so we came back and drove another one which had a sticker price in the window of $11,500 and wasn't listed online yet. This one drove well and we were interested but there were other cars we wanted to go drive that day. We went and drove a few other cars and came back Monday to negotiate price. However, when we got there the price was raised to $12,000 and of course they had no record of it ever being raised. The sales manager was very rude and told us we were thinking of another car. It was not. The other car he was referring to was the one with the check engine light which was listed at $10,500. I had never seen it when it was $11,500 because I was not looking for a vehicle when it was listed at this price. He was VERY rude through the whole negotiation and treated us as if we knew nothing. He even treated us as if our attention and our time did not matter because as he said "let me show you this and then I have another customer." I should have known at that point to get up and leave because obviously my time and money was of ZERO importance to him. He would not negotiate at all or name a price lower then $12,000 insisting that there is no way he would ever sell it below that. So we left. On Thursday we then get a call saying the price dropped to $11,000. We told them we would probably be coming up after work to look at it and then gave them a call a few minutes after we left the house (we live an hour away when there is no traffic) asking them if they could get the spoiler that was popping up on one side fixed. They said they would talk to their manager and see if they can do that. We get a call about 20 minutes later saying it is in the shop for service. We told them we are halfway there so we will be there soon. We get there and the salesperson we were working with, Justin, is with another customer so we decided to wait because he had been working with us since the beginning and was nice. So once he is done he tells us he will be with us in a second and then he tells us to have a seat at another desk while he goes to get the car. After he gets back he tells us that there is a problem. The air compressor for the A/C went and that he had told us it was in the shop. He NEVER told us it was in the shop for anything other then the spoiler getting fixed. So we left. I will not be coming back even if they fix it. I will not be buying anything from any "SUBURBAN COLLECTION" dealership. This customer service was atrocious to say the least. If we had been told no don't come out here it is being serviced because such and such went out I may have considered the purchase still. But to be treated like we stupid in the negotiation for ever thinking the price was different then $12,000, told this is the last thing I will get for you and I have other customers to deal with, and then for the price to drop 3 days later and take an hour and half drive in traffic to get out there and buy it to find out its not even ready for sale yet?! I would highly recommend anyone to avoid this place. More
