Buyer Beware BUYER BEWARE: This fall I went to Grand Ledge Mi to look at used vans. Sundance Chevrolet was the only dealership in the state that had vans of any BUYER BEWARE: This fall I went to Grand Ledge Mi to look at used vans. Sundance Chevrolet was the only dealership in the state that had vans of any type listed for sale through the internet. I ended up buying a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan stow and go with 50,000 miles on it. I paid $10,000 when it was all said and done. Now I had looked the vehicle over and found a few things wrong that I was able to get the price knocked down a little on it, but I am no mechanic. We had not even made our first car payment when it started acting up on us. We ended up taking it to our mechanic we used to keep our drivers ed cars in top working order. He found that a clip used to keep a part down had been broken either during an inspection or earlier repair in the spark plug area, I am not sure what the part was, but he said that the metal clip had come into contact with a spark plug and causing the plug, the plug wire and coil to fry. He told me that who ever either worked on this last or did an inspection of the vehicle did this, that there was no way they could not have known that clip had broken, they do not come undone that easy. He also said that giving this, the van should never have been on the lot for sale until this issue had been fixed. Due to this he replaced all the plugs, wires and coils, to the tune of nearly $400 dollars. Doing a tune up that should not have been needed for another 50,000 miles. I bought the van as is, but under the circumstances I contacted Sundance hoping they would do what was right and at least cover part of the repair bill. The answer I was given was that they only due a quick inspection of vehicles when they buy them, and giving the time since I had bought it, they could not do anything. So if you go to this dealership, and they have dealerships in other locations, keep this in mind. If you are local make sure you take what ever vehicle you are seriously looking at buying to a reputable mechanic and have the vehicle thoroughly inspected. Because if they will do this with a van they have listed for $10,000 what are they not doing for vehicles at a cheaper price. I personally will never buy another vehicle from them again. Now the Sales man was excellent but did not know a lot about this vehicle and had to look up questions that I had about it. It is due to him that I even gave the rating I did. Also do not bother with the Pekin life insurance policy they try to sell you, it does not cover anything the full coverage car insurance you have to maintain, and you have to die to get let your other half collect on it. And if you do get it and then decide to cancel once you have read the fine print, Sundance will not take it off the price of purchase until the end of the loan, so you end up paying interest on a 1,000 plus in the meantime.
