What began with Bill Suntrup opening the first dealership in the 1960s has blossomed into a multi-generational, family-run automotive empire. Just a decade after Bill launched his first dealership, his brother Don joined him, and together, they laid the foundation for what would become the Suntrup Automotive Group.
Today, the Suntrup name is synonymous with quality and trust. With over 20 family members actively involved, the Suntrup legacy continues to thrive. Bill's sons, Chris and Tom, are partners in Suntrup West County Volvo, with Tom also serving as President and CEO of Suntrup Ford Kirkwood, Suntrup Buick GMC in St. Peters, and Suntrup Ford Westport.
On the other side of the family tree, Don’s children, Butch and Craig, are proud partners in Suntrup Nissan/Volkswagen, Suntrup Kia, Suntrup Hyundai, and BMW of West St. Louis. As Craig Suntrup reflects, "We all started early in the business, around age 12, doing the grunt work—washing cars, cleaning parts, and painting walls."

We have bought our last three cars from an another dealership in St. Louis and we’re hesitant to go to someplace where we knew no one. Hunter and everyone at Suntrup were fantastic. I picked the car that I wanted online communicated with the sales rep a few times in a matter of two days. I was shopping for a 2026 KIA Sportage. Suntrup KIA had several trims available. I did not have an appointment to test drive a car. All of my questions were answered and the process to test drive was hassle free. Ali and I were in contact for two weeks while I continued to research and drive other vehicles at other dealerships. He gave just the right amount of attention without being overbearing Even though I eventually bought another make and model, I would highly recommend this dealership and Ali. More
