The Disaster I bought/financed a 2010 VW GTI on 6/6/2014. The car had roughly over 50k miles on it and it seemed to be in great condition. Within 2 week of buying I bought/financed a 2010 VW GTI on 6/6/2014. The car had roughly over 50k miles on it and it seemed to be in great condition. Within 2 week of buying the car, the Engine light and EPC light displayed on the dash and the car wouldn't even drive effectively. I was stranded and had to wait roughly 4 hours for a tow truck to grab the car and bring me to the dealership. The tests they ran pointed to one of the coils being at fault. They replaced the one coil at fault and let me know that it was good to go. Within 1 more week the same situation happened again where my Engine light and EPC light came on except I was on the freeway this time. The car barely made it to a parking lot where I then had to wait 5 hours to get a tow to the dealership due to the car not being able to drive effectively. At the dealership they replaced the remaining 3 coils and sent me on my way. I told them that the coils going bad seemed to be a symptom of a far greater problem. [When the coils go bad a misfire is produced making the engine act very erratic and crazy]. I could hear a slight grinding when accelerating to about 30mph coming from what sounded like the transmission or something in that area. The sound is very easily detected and I brought this up with the dealership on the first visit. They told me that it was nothing and that the tests showed nothing. I am writing this today (8/1/2014) because the car has now displayed another Engine light signifying something wrong with the car. I'm am getting very tired of taking my car to the dealership only to have them slap a band aid on a 'gunshot wound of a problem'. The car has greater problems than what they acknowledge. This is now the third time in less than 2 months of buying/financing the car that it has had a major breakdown. Yes, the dealership has paid for my numerous rental cars, tows, and fixing of the vehicle but all of that aside, at this rate the car will continue to have problems and I will continue to scurry back to them asking for help. Eventually they will cut me off from this 'free' service and I will be stuck with a [Tony Honda Certified Used Car] that will bury me with mechanical bills and payments. This is unacceptable and problems need to be addressed. I am in the process of handling business with them and will see where their professionalism will lead us. Simply stated, I was sold a Tony Honda Certified Used Car that has had more problems than any car I have ever had. The main mechanical issue I feel is not being addressed and the car is very unreliable and quite a burden/stressor. I paid top dollar for a car that I thought would be top of the line but I seem to have paid top dollar for bottom of the barrel.
