At first, stepping through the door of the dealership was overwhelming because it has been 40 years since I was in a car dealership. Very friendly and professional. Asked for a new 'card' for my GPS system and the parts person went extra step to order one that will make sure the latest mapping is on. My concerns with this dealership are primarily with the quality and accuracy of their service department and Toyota Gold Certified inspection process. Before purchasing the vehicle, I pointed out severe quality and accuracy of their service department and Toyota Gold Certified inspection process. Before purchasing the vehicle, I pointed out severe uneven tire wear and concerns about the alignment to my salesperson, Steve. He repeatedly brushed off those concerns and assured me both verbally and in writing that the vehicle had received a proper alignment check. However, during my very first test drive, I immediately noticed the alignment was off. After I brought it up again, Steve had someone from the service department test drive the van, and they agreed the alignment was not correct. The vehicle was taken back for another alignment adjustment. Even after that, the steering still did not feel properly centered. Within about 10 miles of leaving the dealership after purchase, the van displayed an AWD system malfunction warning, and I returned it the same day. What concerns me most is the reliability of the dealership’s “Gold Certified” inspection standards. The 160-point inspection sheet contained numerous obvious errors and inconsistencies: Hybrid-system items were marked compliant even though the vehicle was not a hybrid. Spare tire items were checked off even though the van does not include a spare tire. Tires and alignment were marked as meeting standards despite the clearly uneven tire wear and confirmed alignment issues. When I questioned these discrepancies, they were dismissed as “human error.” I understand mistakes happen, but this experience raised serious concerns for me about the thoroughness, accuracy, and professionalism of the dealership’s service department and certification process.
