Unfortunately, the experiences I have had over 6+ years are NOT uncharacteristic of Toyota of Manhattan's service department. I have experienced flawed, inaccurate brake lining readings at regular service intervals leading to the burning out of my rotors. I've brought my car in for regular, basic maintenance services and despite the fact that there were no problems, waited days to get it back. I've left messages for service advisors and even techs that were never returned regarding problems I was having with my vehicle before bringing it in for service. When I did bring it in for routine services in order for everything to go well I had to have the following: (a) a good service advisor who was hooked up with a good tech and stayed on top of his work, and; (b) a tech that actually cared about what he was doing, thoroughly and competently inspected the car for possible problems not reported by the customer, took the time needed to get everything done right and really read (not glanced at) the work order from the service advisor, and; (c) your elevator working properly, and; (d) a day when you had not overbooked vehicles, and; (e) a day when it wasn't 100+ degrees on the floors, and; f) the ability to leave the car for an additional 1-2 service days beyond my 7am appointment day. And the fraudulent repair I experienced is too horrific to even discuss! If it wasn't for Corporate Toyota stepping in with their Good Will Program and paying me back, I would probably still be in court with your dealership. No, you need to close your entire service department for two weeks and send everybody to Parkway Toyota in Englewood Cliffs, NJ to learn how a great Toyota service center operates. And don't give me that crap about how Toyota of Manhattan can't get and retain good people to work in NYC. Six other major auto dealerships in Manhattan have very good to excellent service departments and they don't all sell luxury cars!
