Vehicle wouldn’t start so I towed it to dealership assuming my extended warranty would cover whatever service was needed. I was informed that since the vehicle arrived around noon it would be serviced assuming my extended warranty would cover whatever service was needed. I was informed that since the vehicle arrived around noon it would be serviced the same day. Despite texting the number provided to ask the service manager if my vehicle would be seen that day, I didn’t receive a response until the end of the day saying they would get to it the next day. The next day I received a text from the service manager outlining ~$2,000 in services that were unnecessary (I had just bought 2 new tires and consistently rotate them, I am up on my oil changed, and do not need my brake fluid flushed) and was quoted $500 for a battery replacement and an additional $116 for the diagnostic. NOTHING WAS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. After texting back I wanted them to do nothing and that I would come pick the Jeep up later in the afternoon I was informed I would still be charged $116 for the diagnostic. When I asked why the charge for the diagnostic I was informed that, since the services suggested weren’t covered by the warranty, then neither was the diagnostic—but that if the services suggested would’ve been covered by the warranty then the diagnostic would’ve been as well. HOW THE xxxx AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF THE SERVICE WOULD’VE BEEN COVERED BY THE WARRANTY UNLESS THE VEHICLE IS DIAGNOSED? This circular logic seems dishonest and not at all a good practice. When I showed up to pick the Jeep up I asked to speak with the service manager. I explained how I thought the charge for the diagnostic was dishonest and a bad business practice. He dismissed the fee and I went home and changed out the battery myself for $250–the cost of a new battery. More
