Lied about window etching said it was a NJ requirement Earlier this year we went to Wayne Mazda to purchase a CX5. We dealt with Victor and almost closed on the car. During the negotiation process Victor m Earlier this year we went to Wayne Mazda to purchase a CX5. We dealt with Victor and almost closed on the car. During the negotiation process Victor mentioned that the car in question had a additional fee for Vin Window Etching. When we said we would like to look at another car then since we didn't want to pay this fee since the Vin etched on the window was not important to us. At which point he said, "All our cars have it. Its a Jersey thing". Which implies that you need to get it as per NJ law. Before picking up the vehicle the next day I did a quick google search about Vin etching legality in NJ and found out that in fact it is not a requirement. In fact the Department of Consumer Affairs and the NJ Attorney General have taken car dealerships to court over this. I promptly emailed Victor sending him the links from the office of the Attorney General about past cases where dealers have lied to customers about this fake regulation and had them pay up to $350 in Vin etching fees. I believe Victor has mentioned $200 for our car. On my email to him I demanded a refund for the fee since they already had the etching done on the car. He never addressed my email. The next day when we went to the dealership to get our deposit back since at this point we didn't want to do business with them I spoke to Victor about my email and the fake fee. Not only did he not offer an apology he flat out denied ever making any false claims. We walked out of the dealership and took our business elsewhere. We spent a good 2-3 hours at the dealership the day before with out 9 month old child since it was a busy day. Can't believe they stand behind staff like this for an addition couple hundred bucks. Mazda is a great brand but stay away from this dealership. More
The most professional, friendly and productive experience I was a Honda Pilot customer for many years and it was time for a change. Based on its excellent reviews I was interested in the Mazda CX-9. After going to a small Mazda dealership that was not very helpful, I visited Wayne Mazda late in the evening, just before its closing time to test drive the car. Thanks to James, and the entire Wayne Mazda team, James' managers Stavross and Eddie, Nalda the finance manager, and the detail team staying late I drove out with a new CX-9 car within 2 hours of arriving there! Apparently this was just a regular day for them as they were there till 11 PM just the night before! James is knowledgeable, sincere and is just a pleasure to work with. Even at the end of a very long day, he and the Wayne Mazda team had a lot of positive energy and worked fast and seamlessly together. It reminded me of a NASCAR pit crew! More
