Cost of the sensors? $145 each. Labor? 90 minutes. Total cost? $720. Complaint resulted in Brad knocking off $35. Cost for new steel wheels, Bridgestone Blizzak tires and tpms units at Discount Tire? $1340, less than twice what I was charged. Service manage contacted me and in essence said I was fortunate to have only been charged $95, as it could have been $190!!! Brad told me knock off tpms units may not work. Online price for genuine tpms sensors? $72. Was my business earned? Absolutely not. At a relatively low cost it confirmed why I haven't visited a Toyota dealership in over 20 years. I can only imagine what a replacement rack and pinion steering repair would have cost. With my local mechanic, $800 and the car works perfectly. I've read cost may be over $2000 at the dealership. And I'm pretty sure my local mechanic makes a very decent wage, and I'm glad. Oh...$680+ later, I still had to spend another 45 minutes as I drove out of town and discovered on the highway at least one of the tires was not properly balanced. The service rep's first comment was that I was driving on snow tires. Really? He was trying to get me to live with an unbalanced wheel or two? Really? But yes, I was stupid--I took my car to this dealership for service in the first place. Never again!! Wife was sorry for her insistence I take the car there, and decided she could have lived without replacing tpms units as people had been doing for about 100 YEARS.... More
