Service department I visited on 1/7/20 with my father who had an oil change for his Subaru Legacy. Holly was great, but the rest of the experience was lacking. We had an appt and we still waited 1 hr and 50 minutes for an oil change (granted, we were 30 min early) When I visit PointS in Canby, they change my oil, rotate my tires, vacuum and wash the car and give me an extensive safety check and I am in and out in under 60 minutes. The wifi never worked. When I asked at the cafe, he said it is "spotty" The bathroom didn't smell clean. I am a happy customer, my husband and I bought a 2020 Forester from Barney in Nov 2019 and the parts department has always been helpful, but the service department just seems lacking. Okay but Genuinely Disappointed I went with my 84 year old Mom to get a new vehicle. This will most likely be the last car she will ever purchase in life. She asked me to come for I went with my 84 year old Mom to get a new vehicle. This will most likely be the last car she will ever purchase in life. She asked me to come for moral support but I also came on behalf of my sisters who wanted to ensure that Mom ended up in a safe car (one with a backup camera and side mirrors with detectors, etc.). When we went to test drive we were told the car was low on gas so we couldn't go far (we had initially test driven a used 2019 model but found a new 2020 one for less money since it was a base model in the color she wanted). Unfortunately, the test drive being shorter affected her (and my) knowledge of what was purchased. The 2020 model of this car has start/stop technology and we were shocked when the car stalled at stoplights on our way home. We nearly got hit by another car making a left hand turn when the car wouldn't start back up in time quickly to make a turn. This was a serious delay which seemed like a serious safety hazard! Even though she had just purchased the car, we had no idea this feature would be like that as it didn't come up on the test drive and the car was billed to us as having this technology as a gas saving tool. I personally feel this technology is not good for my Mom who is not great with technology anyway and has well established driving habits that aren't likely to change at her age. I was already going to have to train her on use of the backup camera/mirrors and was concerned enough about that! When we asked about it the next day (when she went to trade in her old car) we further learned that start/stop cannot be turned off unless you do it every time you get in the vehicle! Unfortunately for my Mom she can't even see this off button nor is she that limber to reach it! Not to mention at age 84 you may forget to hit the button sometimes to turn it off! I haven't slept in 3 days since we bought the car because I'm concerned about this feature and about her safety! I fear it is going to be a safety hazard for her if she can't remember to use that off button! This car, while nice, is nowhere near the safe vehicle I had in mind for my Mom when we went to make the purchase. I feel like we didn't get a good test drive in the car and didn't understand what we were getting. Had we known we would have opted for a 2019 model without this technology. I fear my Mom may kill herself in this car literally. She also spent $5k more than I had thought we would spend on a car (we were originally looking for a used car) so I'm honestly sick about the whole thing knowing she spent this much and isn't even walking away with something either of us are sure of. Its a great car but this stop/start feature is not good for an 84 year old! It also didn't have the side mirror feature me and my sisters wanted for her. I was initially told she could add it on but in the end found out she couldn't. But truly worse than that is the start/stop feature which cannot be readily turned off. Our salesman was very nice but I wish he had spoken more about this feature and let her really test drive it right. We still might have bought a car from him... just not this one! That said, he was kind and I mean no harm in anything stated here. I guess I would also like to add (since I'm writing this) that I don't love the insurance pitch at the end. It felt like haggling which is not why people come to Subaru Wilsonville. We might have liked to purchase this but frankly couldn't afford it. The car was already overbudget what we thought we'd be spending. More
