I recently attempted to purchase a truck from out of - The Real Mad Alaskan
I recently attempted to purchase a truck from out of state through CR at University Motors in Nashville, TN. After confirming the price—including TTL and a $699 dealer doc fee—I provided my state’s DMV contact information to help facilitate the out-of-state process. I was told CR needed to check with their title office, and that I’d receive answers ASAP early in the week.
Instead, I received vague updates and was left waiting with no follow-up. It wasn’t until Thursday morning, when I reached out myself, that I was finally informed the truck had been sold to a relative of the owner. Up until that point, I had no idea the deal had even fallen through.
C.R. mentioned they don’t take deposits and operate in good faith as a small-town dealership that values transparent deals. I accepted that at face value, trusted we were working toward a sale, and let them know I was fully approved by my lender and ready to move forward the moment title confirmation came through.
I understand that “business is business,” but the lack of communication, transparency, and basic professionalism made this a very disappointing experience. I cannot recommend doing business with a dealership that doesn’t back up its word or respect a customer’s time and trust.
