The experience at South Bay Hyundai was fine. We have one major frustration that I suspect would have happened at any Hyundai dealership.. All dealership should disclose to every customer who We have one major frustration that I suspect would have happened at any Hyundai dealership.. All dealership should disclose to every customer who is interested in a hybrid or PHEV, that those cars come with a loud backup noise and that neither the tone nor the volume can be adjusted. We appreciate that NHTSA requires backup safety for pedestrians and we're glad they do, but the law does NOT require THAT noise or THAT volume. This is a new feature so customers don't know to look for it. And most customers who hear it would assume that it is adjustable like every other noise in the vehicles. As it is, I suspect that currently dealerships are hoping that customers don't notice the noise before they purchase. We would NOT have purchased this Tucson had we known this noise couldn't be adjusted. We live in an apartment complex and leave for work at 4:30 in the morning. Our car sounds like a garbage truck when we back up and it's only a matter of time before our neighbors complain that it's waking them up. More
