I gave this dealership and experience 1 star because while I did not get the vehicle I was sold, I did get a very expensive and valuable lesson in purchasing from a dealership. When I found this used vehicle on Capital One Auto Finder, the price was 22k. When I walked in to the dealership they said it was 29k. I said wow, why such a difference that totally changes my monthly payment significantly. I was told in no uncertain terms that it was because it was a used vehicle and the dealership had to make many repairs to get in back to "like new" condition. I was promised by the salesman that everything from the engine to the fuel lines to the tires to the detailing on the inside was like new. We did negotiate to bring the price down by 1k. I felt like that was reasonable as I'm not trying to take anyone for a ride. Little did I know I was the one being taken for a ride. My sale ended when the dealership closed. I was with my 9 yo son. Everyone was gone and the lights were off. I was given the car on an empty (literally 17 miles) gas tank. I was told the car was detailed it was clearly not. An awful and terrible experience having just paid a premium price for a used vehicle. I took me having to be relentless with both my salesman and the service folks to get my car looked at. There was and still is a high pitched screeching sound. I was told that's just because these cars are loud (another lie). I notified them that the seat belts did not lock. Again, I had to be relentless in pushing them to fix it. The service folks told me repeatedly that this was a jeep issue despite the fact that I spent 5 days talking with jeep and they told me the seatbelts are not covered under any warranty and that if I took the car to them I would have to pay. Finally I got honda to agree to fix the vehicle. I asked the service folks to do a complete workup on the car and ensure everything was in like new condition as this is what I was promised and sold. The service manager confirmed with me that the engine is "pristine" and everything is perfect, confirming again that the high pitch screeching is "totally normal" and not an indicator that anything is wrong. For context this is my first used vehicle and my first suv, I have only driven sedans before. I have since consulted a lawyer with all of my documented details and experience as I believe this is a violation of anti lemon law among other violations of my rights as a consumer and the standards or vehicle sales and service men. I feel completely violated and locked in to a vehicle that I did not agree to buy in this condition. My sales and service men are at best naive and ignorant and at worst liars, conmen, and thieves. When I took the car to be looked at by a mechanic they said the oil was low and dark and sludgey, like it had been sitting and unchanged for a year. The front differential fluid was sludgey and had to be replaced as well. The engine light came on shortly after purchase because the engine thermostat is "extremely weathered and should have been replaced years ago". So while I did leave much out, those are the highlights. To say I am disappointed, embarrassed, and ashamed would be a true understatement. Again I feel violated and treated like an idiot. And I suppose maybe I am because I did not make the effort to educate myself of the apparently well known tactics of dealership employees. This was an awful experience and I am left holding the bag. If nothing comes of this feedback, I hope at least the salesman and service manager involved are educated on proper business practices and consumer rights. Please do better and require your employees to do better. The service manager treated me like I was a bother and burden to him when all I wanted was what I was promised and sold. I suppose that was asking too much. Thanks for reading and take care. I'll just be over here with a vehicle that has been one expense and headache after another. More
