Bait and hook. After making a deal and having us come back the next day we were give an interest rate 13%. 7 points higher than the agreed upon 7%. I have found in my 84 yrs of experiencing frustration in buying cars that the internet is God's gift to both parties if they are reasonable. It requires me to do a little leg work in advance but it saves a buying cars that the internet is God's gift to both parties if they are reasonable. It requires me to do a little leg work in advance but it saves a lot of time and frustration. Nothing irritates me more than a dealer giving me the run around. I do my dealing over the phone now and it works like this: I determine if the asking price is reasonable to begin with. I find out what my trade should be worth by consulting Kelly Blue Book. I've found their numbers to be acceptable to dealers keeping in mind it's the spread between the buy price and the trade price that counts. When I call I give the dealer the good, bad and ugly things about the trade. Ugly is usually a cracked windshield that need to be replaced. I am honest with them and expect the same in return. I first talked with Dave Issac and discussed the deal I wanted to make but that I couldn't be hung up in the office for more than an hour. We came to terms that were agreeable to both of us with a little wiggle room for minor adjustments in case I missed some small thing when assessing my trade. He was not available for when I needed to come in so he arranged for his son Dylan to come over from new sales and take care of our deal. These guys are both great to work with. They delivered on their commitment and then some. In the time between our phone call and our appointment, the Jeep we were buying was listed at a lower price than we had negotiated and Sapaugh adjusted the price with no questions. We were in and out in less than an hour, as requested, and were both pleased at the time and fuss saved. I've only experienced this with one other dealer and they are located in Jefferson City, so, both Missouri dealers! More
