Sent to Donovan Feb 25: Hi Donovan, Thanks for asking My experience was extraordinarily disappointing. Here’s why BACKGROUND: My 2020 Forester is has - 4,000 miles after 13 months due to COVID-caused working at home and driving my summer car ( Miada that I drive weather permits for top-down driving). MOST OF THE MILES SO FAR COME FROM the Subaru was being driven last year Jan -April and recently this past Dec and Jan. THE PROBLEM: I brought my Forester in to find out why when driving it would 1) suddenly shift into low gear and stay there with a max speed of about 20MPH 2) refuse to restart without considerable coaxing. 3) activate all the dash warning lights flashing. 4) display The CHECK ENGINE light keeping the transmission was stuck in the [S] mode. THE BIGGER PROBLEM: I made an appointment with the idea that I had a bad battery. I was told 1) there is nothing wrong with your car. 2) I was told Subaru computers on board could not handle the cold! (and that Toyotas had the same problem). 3) Full battery charge was necessary but that there was nothing wrong with the battery. I wondered how Subaru expected to sell cars in Minnesota if they could not handle cold weather. Your records will show that my family has bought several Subarus from White Bear Acura Subaru over at least 20 years. Never had a problem with weather just as cold or colder. Until now. I do not feel that there is nothing wrong with my car. There is. Perhaps there is nothing wrong with the battery except that it is not up to the challenge of maintaining charge in the cold. Is a better battery something I should consider? perry hackett
