I began my career with 1st Coast in 1987, when I was hired as the lot attendant. Since then I rose through the ranks and in 2000 purchased the business from my boss. I have had the pleasure of helping tens of thousands of customers obtain quality vehicles and financing. Personally, I am a gearhead as well. I enjoy racing sports cars in the SCCA and restoring vintage cars. I am a Jacksonville native with deep roots in our community and devote my spare time to local charitable organizations.

First Coast Auto Sales responded

The customer has misrepresented what happened. Unfortunately, shortly after purchasing a Jeep the upper radiator hose split. The split was 6 inches long causing a ton of steam and water loss. Rather than stopping and calling he continued to operate the vehicle. Ultimately, he sent me a photo of the dash showing the temperature pegged hot, check gauges warning message in the info display, the tachometer showing the engine running and the odometer. I responded within 60 seconds, even though it was Sunday afternoon, My response said, "Please turn it off. If it is that hot you will be damaging the motor. Is it leaking water?" The customer sent pictures showing water throughout the engine compartment and all over the grill and front bumper. We picked the vehicle up Monday morning and transported it to our service facility. It was immediately apparent that the hose had split and the customer chose to ignore the steam, water leak, gauge, warning message and chose to drive the vehicle to its death. What I sent the customer was a photo of the blown $25 hose, a copy of the picture of the odometer he sent me with the gauge pegged hot and a picture of the odometer when I received the vehicle. What the pictures showed was a major water leak which had to cause a ton of steam. Then his picture from Sunday afternoon shows him ignoring the gauge and warning message. My last picture showed him proof that he continued to drive miles further despite all the warnings to stop. Our warranty does not cover a customer who intentionally chooses to drive a vehicle until it burns up. In fact it expressly states in the very first exclusion, right next to the customer's initials, "Failure caused by misuse, modification, lack of fluids or overheating." are not covered. We have offered to help the customer fix the problem he caused. He has refused to accept responsibility.
