Germaine Honda was able to get me the best price of all the Honda dealers in the Franklin County area. I appreciated their straightforward pricing that was the best in the Franklin County area. No other Honda dealers around could match their pricing on a new Honda. Their sales staff was excellent answering all my questions and providing any and all support needed for me to make my decision on which new Honda to purchase.

My experience of Germain Honda pre-owned in Dublin was top-notch, I'm kind of a picky customer and always looking for the best deal and my salesperson Kelly, the sales manager Ryan, and internet person Kathleen always went above and beyond to help me and I got a excellent deal on a Honda Pilot oh, and even after the sale was done they fixed some minor issues I had with the vehicle, I can't say enough thank you!

Worst Car-Buying Experience Ever

Contacted the dealership online and told the contact person of the vehicle I was looking for, on a Sunday afternoon. She said that they had the exact car. Set up an appointment for the following Wednesday to look at the car, take a test drive, and purchase if we liked it. I got my financing in place in advance. We were ready. Wednesday morning I got an email reminding us of our appointment at 2 pm. We showed up ontime and asked for our contact person and we were told she was upstairs. So we waited a bit and then someone came and told us she wasn't there. Strike 1. So we had to explain the whole situation to a different person. So he went to look up our car. He came back and said that car wasn't there. It had been supposedly sold on Monday. Strike 2. We asked why we hadn't been contacted and told the car was gone, we wouldn't have made the trip. We were told basically that the internet person doesn't get updated when a car has been sold.
I said that is the most fd-up system I've ever heard of. We made a wasted trip for nothing. A valid appointment and nobody let uis know the car was sold? Strike 3 and they are out. I think the whole thing was a bait-and-switch. Get us in there, tell us the car we were to see had been sold, and try to talk us into spending another $1000 for the next trim-level.
We are disgusted with Germain Honda, we will tell anyone of our experience, and will never be able to recommend them for anything except a disappointing experience. A big thumbs-down!
I would go anywhere else.

We sincerely apologize that you were not satisfied with your visit. Our dealership prides itself on listening to our guests and providing their exact vehicle of choice, we do not make it a practice to bait and switch our guests. In your circumstance, the vehicle simply sold prior to your arrival. We apologize that we did not reach out to advise you of this matter.

Been in contact for several weeks with Kathleen about purchasing a 06 GTO you have listed. She has been nothing but nice and agreeable and we finally agreed on a purchase price and was all set to come make a purchase on Saturday. Now this morning I get an email stating that the price I was given by her, not the price I offered, but a price she herself gave me and confirmed would be the price, is no longer the price. Now it's not the fact that a $250 difference breaks me. It's the fact that a deal was struck, plans were made, and then I'm informed the price isn't the price anymore. That is absolutely horrendous business ethics in my book and after that how can I even begin to trust your dealership. Based on the multitude of negative feedback your dealer seems to have it's no question if I'm the only one who feels slighted but more of a question how a dealer can continue to operate like this and still be in business.

We apologize for any miscommunication. Kathleen was going to see if $15,500 would be an acceptable price from management and she never intended that to be interpreted as a firm offer. We are sorry for this misunderstanding and will honor the $15,500 price for your trouble.

There was no miscommunication. She offered the price. I asked her to verify and she in fact confirmed the price. At which I accepted and made arrangements to come purchase the car Saturday. Today on confirming if the sales tax because I am out of state would be "paid" by Germain and rolled into my auto loan for the amount I'm financing or if I would address it locally when I registered the car back here in PA, I was then instructed that the "head manager" which I presume to be you Craig, told her you would no longer honor the 15,500 which she herself Kathleen countered with. I have the emails and would gladly post and share them if this venue permitted it.

Jay,
I am so sorry for your experience. I have followed up with my Pre-Owned Manager Ryan Cox regarding this matter. He did agree and we will stand by the $15.500.00 plus fees and taxes. I don't know why you are being told we will no longer honor that price. Ryan stated that there are 2 sets of keys and if you would like to finance the taxes and we will cut a check back to you, we can do that. Again, my apologies that you are not receiving the quality Germain experience you deserve.
Kind Regards,
Craig

It is the policy of our Internet Department not to extend discounts on our vehicles or accept a customer’s below-sticker offer. It appears that the Internet representative’s language in their communication with you did not directly reflect this policy. We apologize for that.
Unfortunately, we are not able to take a “hold deposit” on a vehicle. I hope you can appreciate why: should we take a deposit and you decide that upon arrival that the vehicle is not everything you had hoped it would be, not only would we have to refund the deposit, we also would have lost a week’s worth of opportunity to sell the vehicle to another customer.
That said, if you’re able to find a way to make it here prior to Monday, here is what we are able to do:
To make up for the confusion of the past few days, we will extend an additional $250 off the price of the car. This would give you a total discount of nearly $750 off the advertised price, $500 of which is directly related to your sub-par experience.
Also, as soon as you depart to visit the dealership, we will set the keys aside so that the vehicle cannot be sold out from under you mid-trip.
We are open from 9-8 Monday through Thursday and 9-7 on Friday and Saturday.
Please reach out to our Pre-Owned Manager, Ryan Cox (rcox@germainmotorco.com), directly if you would like to set an appointment.
Thank you,
Craig

Craig
The offer to honor the price came about after I made my review.
I can provide you the emails if need be, but there was certainly a retraction of the 15500 which I was offered by Kathleen where she said she "My head manager will not do 15500 he said 15750 I am sorry".
That being said I still like the car, however in lieu of what happened yesterday my transportation made other arrangements when I said the deal was off, so I am unable to come this Saturday as planned as I cannot drive two cars back.
All that aside I was willing to leave a deposit to hold the car since I am unable to come until next week now as I work M-F 9-5 and your 3.5 hours away I would never make it during weekday business hours. I thought that was acceptable however Kathleen said that she cannot accept that.
So at this point I have to wait until Monday Labor Day to officially purchase the car in the hopes you still have it. If I do buy it and everything goes through well I will retract the negative feedback I left, however if I am unable to see the car because it sells I will leave the feedback up as it is in fact an honest assessment of what transpired and Its not my fault I am unable to complete the transaction as planned tomorrow.
Any more questions or concerns feel free to let me know.
Thank you for your time in reaching out to address this matter.

I do appreciate the concession and fully understand the deposit policy. The only reason I would of asked for it back upon visiting was if there was some glaring issue mechanically with the car that Germain would be unwilling to fix. That aside again I appreciate the additional incentive and look forward to "hopefully" be purchasing this GTO. Also as I said if all goes will I will remove all negative feedback and replace it with a positive one.
Thank you
Jay

First and foremost I want you to know I sat here and debated all day yesterday if I wanted to take my time to address you directly and if I did if you would even care about it however for the piece of mind and to make me feel better I am going to.
I am unsure if your unaware of the event which transpired and I will attempt not to drone on as Im sure you would lose interest and probably not even read it but you are aware of the events which transpired previously and I should of simply licked my wounds and walked away but I made the mistake of giving your dealership a second chance.
Let me start on Saturday I sent emails to both Kathleen who went without reply and then followed up with Ryan to ensure that the GTO was still available and I would be on my way Monday to get it. Ryan told me he would reply by the end of the day Saturday letting me know... Saturday 8 pm comes around still no reply so I follow up with Ryan who tells me hes 95% sure its still there but hell let me know for sure Sunday.
Sunday the only time someone stayed true to his word and I didnt have to chase an answer Ryan did reply saying the car was available and ended with SEE YOU MONDAY.
Monday 8 am, Im up, dog has been dropped off at my parents and Im on the road. A little after 9 I hand my fiance my phone saying hey shoot them an email since they are open and let them know were on our way!
Oh but wait I have an email time stamped before the dealer even opens stating theres a customer there and they are interested in the GTO!
Now... if you only open at 9.... how am I to call and say on on my way, and how is there another buyer there looking at the car who too is also drove to see it per Kathleen?!
So now were 2 ours into our trip... I call Kathleen... no answer... I call Ryan.... no answer... leave voice mails for both asking for a call back... I tell my fiance call the main dealership number so we can talk to someone...
They do, Kathleen comes to the phone and tells her its out of her hands someone is there shell call back in a little and let us know whats going on...
15 minutes later WE call as we sitll havent heard... Kathleen still cant give us an answer, gives me attitude saying its out of her hands and shes not going to argue with me shell have her manager Ryan call me...
A little after 10 still no word.. my phone dings its an EMAIL from Ryan stating there was another miscommunication and the GTO has been sold, he offers me a $100 gift card for my troubles... At this point Im livid, I have my fiance who is at least reasonable reply because honestly I know Im going to lose it if I reply.
So there you have it... my entire holiday wasted. Im angry Im upset and in the grand scheme of things I wasnt called or emailed as promised MULTIPLE times by your staff and the only thing they hinge their reasoning for not holding the car for me is because I didnt call before you were even open to state Im on my way...
I really hope you care enough to reply and do something here to correct the situation but as I sit here and type this I will be shocked if anything is done...
Its a shame this deal went like this. It was clear I was interested in the car, I would of bought it last week if your staff had not jerked me around and yet after all that I still tried to buy the car and got screwed. The best part about all of this... the price dropped below even what YOU promised to sell me the car for which was a real slap in the face....

I have been looking at Honda's for a while now. I had a horrible experience at another dealership but Kathleen the online specialist reached out to me and I decided to give Germain Honda a chance. She assured me that my experience would be different at Germain. She was right. From the moment I walked in the door the sales manager assured me that "Mo" was one of their best salesmen and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. Every question I threw at him no matter how minute he answered without hesitation. We went over features that I want and some that were optional for me. He found a car and with great detail went from the rear of the car to the front (engine) explaining everything and demonstrating everything. I even learned a couple of new things about the car from him. I love that he demonstrated great knowledge about the cars that he is selling. Had I had my husband with me at the time even though the car wasn't the color I want, I would have probably said let's make the deal now. He really sold me on Honda. Great job and I hope to be doing business with you very soon!
