Mazda builds an excellent car but the experience of owning a Mazda needs to match the same attention to detail baked into the vehicle. My 3 is advertised for getting 39 mpg highway. Recently, I had a pleasing 38 mpg on the highway, if my memory is right 444.7 miles on 11.7 gallons of fuel made my day. This would not have been likely if I had not maintained my service appointment for an oil change. The Mazda app and my continued relationship at the dealership made it easy. What I like most about the car's performance this month is that it was up to the task of me being pressed into service with twelve hour days in several cities in Ohio. The car responded superbly on the highway. This experience is the type of performance I need in my line of work. Mind you, I did not hyper mile my way to 38 mpg, I drove this car with a sense of purpose. I like that Mazda service has proven dependable and the sales team continues to follow through, even Bo Stranzin, who didn't sale me anything, but he took the time to answer questions about how to download an update for my nav system. He could have passed the buck. My experience would not be what it is today if professionals like Rusty, Jim, Kyle and Jeremy didn't take the time to consistently explain to me how the electronics work in the car, how to utilize the Mazda app and how to tie in my service schedule so the process remains simple. It also means a lot to me that Jim and Kyle will help me keep my car clean. A clean car is important and necessary because it represents the best of who you intend to be to others. Many times I have looked better because they have taken the time to help me in this area no matter how busy. This speaks volumes in the pride that they take in service to me and presumably others. I am very fortunate to be treated so kindly, many are paid to do so, few live up to this standard. I find the service department seen and unseen, must absolutely believe in this way. What makes this dealership stand out from the folks down the road is this team. I appreciate the team making me feel like family. More

Delivery and Service I recently purchased my fourth Mazda 3 (323 circa 1988) and I couldn't be more satisfied. The difference between the 2012 and the 2014 is the differe I recently purchased my fourth Mazda 3 (323 circa 1988) and I couldn't be more satisfied. The difference between the 2012 and the 2014 is the difference between night and day. I feel supported and wanted as a customer. I never feel like I am being sold, rather consulted. My experience has been the team has my best interests at heart to stay in a Mazda and to remain satisfied with the brand and the dealership. I appreciate the hard work and dedication this dealership offers. I am a life long lover of cars, but I cannot separate myself from the Mazda driving experience, because nothing drives like a Mazda. The highest compliment I can posit is how Rusty handled my mis-understanding of the facts of what I thought I wanted and what I thought I agreed too. Rusty is very knowledgeable and knows the details of the Mazda3. He managed the differences in facts honestly and courageously. He then clarified the matter and affirmed his willingness to go whichever direction I chose to go. We all have differences of opinions, here is a classic example of how things are done can add up to the desired end. From the front door of the dealership to the drivers door when all was said and done, the buying experience was simply superb. In a few years I can see myself purchasing another car for my daughter, because I want to keep this one. lol. That decision doesn't rest on the brilliant engineering from Mazda, nor the technology baked into the product. The tipping point is not Mazda's Soul Red color that adorns the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, rather its the relationship that we continue to build. The consistency of personnel and the joy I get in being a part of a fine group of people is priceless. Thank you More

I was able to benefit by opting for cruise control as soon as possible on road trips. With the Skyactiv if the tach didn't get past two grand in starting from a stop the vehicle gas mileage travels a greater distance, just be aware you will see similar results. Provided you are current with our car's service routine. Unfortunately, my car was rear ended in the backend in a construction zone while a woman was texting, though I tried mightily to get out of the way, she hit my car pretty bad here. I am just waiting to here from the the insurance on what they call $13k worth repairs, sounds like a do over to me. Nonetheless, I am solidly determined to stay in a Mazda at Germaine dealership. They ever stopped earning my business, though they need to know despite what may have been taught is sales training, no need to close me on my choice. I am already closed on a Mazda, I will let you know which one, but no that I am not looking elsewhere. Having said that, my previous experience with Lew Karbler and Sonny Sosniak they recommended me to get Gap Insurance, which I am so glad I did. If not I could be upside down $7K based on what the insurance company may pay, the Gap Policy pays the difference. This was good advice from the dealership no one thinks years later their will be a need for Gap Insurance. The other service recommended was the pre-paid maintenance package. This kept my car running in top fashion. It has been my experience the Service team is intuitive, work hard to answer questions, go the extra mile and listen to my concerns if any. I encourage you to consider Germain Mazda because I know when its time to choose a new car, they will do everything possible to get me situated in a car I like, in a car I want and in a car whose deal makes sense to my sensibilities. Before I began the car shopping process, I searched the internet for information on how to buy a car. I learned that dealerships will often offer great deals on the price of the car, only to find other way internet for information on how to buy a car. I learned that dealerships will often offer great deals on the price of the car, only to find other ways to inflate the cost and maximize their profits. With this in mind, I called many different dealerships. Some offered great deals, but with a time limit. Others offered deals on a trim that I did not want, but raised the price for the trim that I wanted. Still others offered a great deal on the new car, but simultaneously decreased the value of my trade-in. Then there were dealers who were difficult to reach or turfed me to their website, offering no assistance whatsoever. This is why I found Lew Karbler at Germain Mazda so refreshing. While all the other dealers were either tripping over themselves to get me into their dealership or ignoring me outright, Lew took the time to explain the car-buying process in terms I understood. He explained the rationale for the price he quoted me. He respectfully waited while I did my homework and called other dealers. He stuck to his word on the value of my trade-in. He was available to answer my questions. He stayed at work an hour past closing to accomodate me. Most importantly, he did not pressure me to purchase at his dealership or purchase at all. He simply waited patiently, occasionally calling to see if I was still interested. When, after the competitive bidding process, I had an idea how much I was willing to pay for my vehicle (a Mazda3 i Sport - love it!!), I *wanted* to give him my business because by then he had already earned my trust. He matched the price of the lowest competitor without hesitation. When he did not have the color that I wanted, he brought one in at no extra cost, and with minimal delay. His associates Tim Nilsen and Sonny Sosniak were also very helpful and patiently answered all my questions. The best part is that I will be seeing this group again as I will be bringing my vehicle in for routine servicing. I expect the same personalized helpful service as I had during the car-buying process. More

Overall I had a great experience that took 9 months, visiting over 5 different times. Lew was friendly, remembered me, and courteous each time. He was not overbearing at any point and answered every q visiting over 5 different times. Lew was friendly, remembered me, and courteous each time. He was not overbearing at any point and answered every question fully. I considered 3 different models of Mazda (family and 2 dogs), and at the last time I went in (the purchase) he made a simple pro/con list that landed me on the Mazda 6. During the purchase he made suggestions to meet our price point, and we ended with an agreeable payment. The paperwork process was smooth and went quickly, even with a screaming baby! The delivery of the car was great as well and everything was clean inside and out. Lew went over all of the features one more time, set up my phone, and programmed the radio and navigation for me. I am a salesman by trade, and Lew exceeded all of my expectations and the dealership itself was clean, comfortable and the complementary drinks and snacks were nice amenities. I would recommend Germain and Lew in particular to any family member or friend. More

EXTREMELY rude man. We really just wanted estimates for car payments and he just assumed we were buying right there and then. He put a ton of pressure on us and when he got the idea that maybe we weren't r car payments and he just assumed we were buying right there and then. He put a ton of pressure on us and when he got the idea that maybe we weren't ready to buy TODAY he got nasty with us. We said the payments were a little high and that we would like to go home and figure out our finances before we rushed into a deal. He wanted to force us to sit and "talk about it", which basically means, "let me put more pressure on you." He ended by saying, "so basically, the only way you'd be interested is if the car were free." I've never heard something so rude and disrespectful in my life. We were genuinely interested in the Mazda6, but we were quoted a different monthly payment on their website. You shouldn't be obligated to buy a car just because you step through the doors and indicate interest. We stated upfront that we were still weighing options, but he must have ignored this since he stated, "Oh I just assumed you were buying today." You never "just assume" ANYTHING in the world of retail, and you don't treat your customers like crap if they don't bow to your will. We could barely get a word in edgewise and he didn't seem willing to let us speak privately with each other (myself and my spouse). It's almost like he felt invincible because the place has such high ratings. I know it's not common practice to act like this because we've dealt with salespeople who were vet easygoing and low-pressure. He came off as extremely aggressive. When we get our Mazda, we will be going to Byers. If you're gung-ho about going to Germain, we won't try to convince you otherwise, but we do urge you to at least choose a different salesperson should Lew Karbler approach you. More

After doing a substantial amount of internet research, I settled on looking at a new Mazda as my next vehicle after driving a pickup for the past 5 years. The more difficult decision was choosing a dealers settled on looking at a new Mazda as my next vehicle after driving a pickup for the past 5 years. The more difficult decision was choosing a dealership, but after reading the reviews on this site I decided to go to Germain (which of course I'm glad I did). Generally speaking the experience of buying a car one that causes anxiety and frustration, but at no point working with Sonny or Lew did I feel pressured to buy something I didn't want or need. Sonny was able to get a lower interest rate through the dealership than my bank could even offer, and he took the time to carefully explain each finance option as well as the warranty terms- even going so far as to draw charts detailing each provision. After the paper signing was complete, Lew took the time to help sync my new car to the Bluetooth functionality on the vehicle. This saved me the trouble of reading how to perform it so that I could get on the road and start enjoying the car sooner. When a product is good, it generally sells itself. Salesmen should be there to help walk through the features and answer questions, which is exactly what happened in this case. I have walked off lots before where a salesman asked me "how much can you afford a month" without even a consideration of what I wanted to buy. I was extremely relieved to find a dealership that let me make the decision, versus trying to make it for me. Again, a big thank you goes out to the Germain team for making this experience leaps and bounds better than my first car purchase! I love driving the car and look forward to having it for years to come. -John More

I have owned a Mazda for 11 years and love it, so I knew my next car was probably going to be another Mazda. I searched the Mazda.com website and with the "build your own Mazda" feature, I found the car I my next car was probably going to be another Mazda. I searched the Mazda.com website and with the "build your own Mazda" feature, I found the car I knew I had to have. Unfortunately, there weren't any of this specific model within a couple hundred miles of Columbus. I contacted my nearest dealership, which happened to be Germain Mazda. Honestly, I wasn't looking forward to this because I have known several people who haven't had great experiences with other Germain dealerships in the past, but I proceeded with an email anyway since they were in close proximity. I AM SO GLAD I DID. They found the car I wanted in IL and arranged to have it shipped (no extra charge). They were not at all pushy or 'salesman-like'. They were nothing but professional and friendly and did not try to talk me into something I didn't want (which was my last experience with another large dealer in Columbus - I won't name names ["we're dealin!!"]). They stayed in contact with me via email pretty much daily, and even Paul Germain called me a couple of times to tell me the status of my new car that was being transported. I loved my experience with Germain Mazda and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone if they are looking for a new car. More

This review is to affirm the information stated to me when purchased about the Mazda 3 Skyactiv is legitimate and true. After driving the vehicle nearly 12,000 miles I can say I have put to the test the when purchased about the Mazda 3 Skyactiv is legitimate and true. After driving the vehicle nearly 12,000 miles I can say I have put to the test the capabilities baked into the car. Perhaps overlooked or understated, if you check the record some Mazda 3's have a 14.5 gallon tank, others a 15.9 gallon tank. Mine has the latter. This makes all the difference in the world relative to miles per gallon if you fill up the car's "bladder" with fuel. Recently I experimented with using a mid grade gasoline and filling up the tank closer to the 15 gallon limit. Again, I cannot over state this makes a difference in mileage. Daily, I drive on back country roads to Mount Vernon, Centerburg, New Albany, Mount Gilead and other locations. I do have mixed city driving too. One thing I make sure of is that I don't let the car sit and idle long once I have reached my destination and I use cruise control at every opportunity. As a result, my gas mileage has improved since new. On a tank of gas I was getting 340 miles on a tank in the winter months. Since the weather has warmed up I am just now beginning to get 436 miles on a tank, this tank I am pushing the upper 400s lower 500 miles on a tank of gas. Considering Kia its dealerships had to re-state their car's overall gas mileage because of exaggerated facts from the top down. In comparison, I would have to say the Mazda brand and Germain Mazda are proving to be honest. The Mazda 3 SkyActiv is advertised to get 40 mpg highway, it looks that way to me. I anticipate the car's performance will improve and ultimately be maintained because Mazda continues to build an uncompromising product. I appreciate Germain Mazda because they reflect the values and conscientious attention to detail by getting the facts straight. They service my car, like we are both brand new. I cannot reasonably ask for more. I certainly hope you will consider this dealership, they will earn your business the old fashioned way. More
