We purchased a 2024 Toyota Tacoma for my wife on Feb 22, 2025. During the sale we were treated well as is expected when making a purchase. We were able to agree on a price with some add ons. I wanted the truck to be ceramic coated being the color was black to prevent scratching. This was agreed to prior to the purchase. The truck we purchased came with a dealer installed lift kit, after market wheels and tires. My wife loved the truck. After we signed the paperwork for the agreed upon pricing and completed the credit app, it was approx 3 hours before we were brought into the finance dept to complete the deal. I agreed to place $10,000 down payment, $5,000 at time of sale and $5000 in 30 days. Sun Toyota stated they would take it from my debit card. I explained that my bank would not approve that amount on debit. They insisted they could do it. After multiple attempts, they agreed to a paper check for $5000. The truck registration had to be completed for South Dakota being my resident state. I explained in great detail that the registration had to be completed by the Pennington County Treasurer and not a "DMV". I offered the information to the finance department including the address and phone number to complete the registration. The response was " we do this all the time and it won't be a problem". Today is April 16, 2025. I still do not have my registration for the vehicle, there is no record of application of title with the county treasurer, but a response from Sun Toyota is that I should recieve my plates in the mail from the South Dakota DMV, which does not exist, any day now. My second 30 temporary tag is set to expire on April 24, 2025. Another temporary tag can not be issued since this is the second one. When I asked what will be done if it expires, I was told that the dealership can possibly lend a dealer tag until I receive the plates but it was very slim chance that would happen. After the purchase was completed in February, it required multiple calls to schedule the vehicle for the ceramic coating and to address an issue of the front tires rubbing the fenders during turning. Sun Toyotas correction for the tires rubbing was to remove the front air xxxx from the truck and adjust the caster to prevent rubbing. They stated the tires still rub in reverse while turning which they still do. I explained to them that the aftermarket wheels that where installed have too much negative offset causing the steering arc to be greater making the tires rub. They opted to not address this. I did not receive any documentation on the ceramic coating and at this time I do not feel that a true ceramic coating was completed on the truck due to the condition of the paint after only a month. Due to the inability to charge my debit card for the second down payment of $5000, Sun Toyota had to redo the finance agreement on the truck. When I received the new docs via email, items were added to the deal that were refused during the original purchase and the docs had to be completed correctly a second time. Our trade in was not paid off until April 6 2025. In that time I had to make another payment on that vehicle to prevent a late payment. Multiple phone call to Sun Toyota about this resulted in many unreturned phone calls and multiple responses that it was taken care of. Since the original purchase date of the truck I have made multiple requests to speak to the General Manager or Service Director to get some assistance with the issues. I have never heard from any of them. Due to the lack of response to my phone calls about all the issues I have had, and the fact that the title work and registration is not being completed correctly, or at all I do NOT recommend anyone doing any type of business with Sun Toyota. The fact that customer service is non existent and the refusal respond to my concerns shows that the dealership is strictly about volume sales with no care for the customer once the paperwork is signed. The place is clean! Family friendly, so much that Dave and staff managed to keep my 10yr old daughter busy for 3+hours, answering all kinds of car questions.
