Purchased a 2006 Mercedes Benz CLK 55 AMG with 89,000 miles - after arriving home with the car I noticed a Service Required notice on start up. Called sales representative to ask why. He advised me to ignore the warning, that the mechanic neglected to switch it off after serving. Drove 2000 miles before having a start up problem. Took in for servicing ending up with a $9000 bill. I am most concerned about the defective Thrust Arms which put my life in jeopardy if they failed causing the front wheels to fall off! According to the mechanics, these take a long time to become faulty and the defect would have most certainly been apparent when I purchased the car. I’d like to think a used car purchased from a reputable dealer would last more than 2000 miles before requiring major repairs! More
