The manager at this location (Trey Green) has no business working in customer service. He is pushy and slimey and basically all things the "typical car salesman" is portrayed to be - only honestly worse. He almost ruined the sale of my vehicle not once but twice. First, I was transferred to him on the phone and he sketchily refused to talk about rock-bottom pricing. I told him that I had done extensive research and was only interested in driving there on my lunch break if he could do a certain price "out the door" on a specific vehicle. He refused to say and stated that I needed to come in and he "could probably come close to my number" and I said "if you can't hit that number, it's okay - I'm truthfully going to make an offer on another vehicle (which I was going to) instead of using my lunch break to drive from Rock Hill. He argued that Rock Hill was super close to his dealership and I just needed to come see the car. His attitude was unnecessarily brash and sketchy so I told him thank you and hung up with no intention of going. 3 minutes later he called back and said he talked to the "big man" excuse my *eye roll* and magically now he could hit my (very fair) number. I made an appointment with Helwig and was there right on time. Come to find out, Helwig was with another customer when I arrived and they couldn't locate the car. They finally did but then they couldn't locate the keys. After leaving me out in the cold for 5-10 minutes, they finally realized that Helwig (who ditched my pre-made appointment for a walk-in) had accidentally taken my keys with him while he was driving another vehicle with a customer. The place wreaks of chaos and lack of professionalism. With that said, from around the corner with the keys came Markus Porter, my knight in shining armor and the only competent person who apparently works at Scott Clark Nissan. He handled the situation perfectly, with just the right amount of humble, apologetic humor. He read me quickly and knew exactly how to play to his audience. I told him I was very interested in the vehicle, despite the experience I've had but that I preferred to work with him moving forward. I told him I would be back the next day at 11am, with cash but I wanted to sleep on the decision. He smiles and winked, telling me he'd hide my car with confidence id be back and see me tomorrow. Which, ironically, really made me want to come back that next day. Right when everything was going perfectly, re-enter Trey Green who, again, tried to hard-sell by telling me the dealership was "high volume" and I'd be lucky if that car lasted til tomorrow. He TOLD me to put down a deposit. I told him that if the car wasn't there the next day, it wasn't meant to be. Which visibly annoyed him. Let me paint you a picture -I'd put money on it- Trey Green is the type of guy who probably showed that car to every single customer that day, including the ones only looking at SUVs, just to attempt to sell the car out from under me...just to "show me". He is 100% that kind of sales guy - he made a terrible impression and in the less than an hour that I was in the dealership, another customer even rolled her eyes when being badgered by him. Whoever owns and runs this dealership needs to cut their loss with this guy, he's doing more damage than good, this I promise you. Anyway, I returned the next day, Markus was ready for me and handled my transaction flawlessly and promptly. I was in and out quickly, I felt like a member of his family and I have no doubt that If I ever need anything moving forward he will handle it with the same level of professionalism, promptness, and willingness that I received throughout this process...and not to mention the same level of those things that I did NOT receive from his colleagues. He truly saved a sale that should've never been and would have never been if it wasn't for him. Talk about succeeding in the face of adversity...Plain and simple, Markus should be promoted and Trey should he fired. More
