I brought it in in January because there was a lot of engine noise and the check engine and traction lights were one, and cruise control, traction control and brake lights were all flashing. This tells you little about what the problem is. In January, I thought the noise would be alleviated, but they replaced an oil regulator and indicated that there were loose components in the exhaust system and they tightened up a plate. However the noise persisted. When I brought it back this time, I once again asked about the noise. there had been a check engine light the day before, but not on the day of the repair. I was told that the knock sensor needed to be replaced, and that there were either one or two repairs to the exhaust system that could cost $900 or $1400 for the entire repair. On both occasions, I was confused about what the order of operations was and what was the more serious repair. The noise seems to be coming from the exhaust system for what the service department said on both occasions. However, another problem was repaired each time. I understand that it was the problem indicated by the check engine log, and apparently these problems were more serious than the exhaust noise. However, I don't want the muffler or any part of the exhaust system to fall off the car! ALL IN ALL, GOOD WORK! However, I would like to feel more informed about the seriousness of all repairs and the total cost, before the estimate comes back with the cost of only part of the repair. I would have liked to be presented with the entire cost of the knock sensor AND the exhaust with the estimate.
