Donna, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Catie spoke with you about the diagnostic at the counter when you came in and you authorized the technician to perform the work. I can understand your frustration with the price of the diagnostic on the CX5, however the technician had to follow a diagnostic procedure as per Mazda to determine the problem. The technician found that there was no communication with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) when he brought the vehicle into the shop. There are numerous reasons as to why this could be such as a wiring issue, a module failure itself, damage caused by a rodent or in your case a fuse. The technician checked power to the module as well as the ground to the module. He also inspected the wiring to the module to ensure there was no damage. After he determined that the fuse had blown and he replaced the fuse, he needed to verify there were no possible shorts in the power circuits that caused the fuse to blow. I know that it seems like an easy fix, but had he not done all of the proper inspections and diagnostics he wouldn't have found that the fuse was blown and there may have been an underlying issue that wasn't found causing the concern to occur again once you left. Again, the technician took the time to ensure that your vehicle was fixed correctly and safe for you to drive. If you would like to discuss this any further please contact me at 267-956-1160.
