Mrs. Webb was in our service department on 10/23/2023 with a brake concern stating "no pressure behind the brake pedal." Upon inspection, the technician found that the front brake pads were down to 1mm, the front brake rotors were unmachinable due to wear, and the rear brake pads were worn down to 3mm. These measurements call for replacement of the mentioned components. These are not warrantable items as they are caused by normal wear and tear. While replacing the rear brake pads, we noticed the right rear caliper was seized and needed replaced. A seized caliper can cause the vehicle to feel like there is no pressure behind the brake pedal. Mrs. Webb authorized the needed repairs and the vehicle was repaired and road tested. The technician confirmed the concerns were no longer present. We were not notified or made aware of any persisting issues with brake pressure on Mrs. Webb's 2013 Lincoln MKX until 01/31/2024, three months after the previous repair. The concerns at this visit were noted as "brake pedal goes to the floor" and "an illuminated traction control light". We notified Mrs. Webb that we stand behind the previous repair and that if the concerns were related, there would be no charge. We also notified Mrs. Webb that if the concerns were not related to the previous repair then she would be responsible for the technician's time to diagnose those issues. There are many components in the braking system that can cause the new concerns and since the vehicle has not exhibited these concerns over the last three months, it very well could be something other than the brake pads, front rotors, or the right rear caliper. Mrs. Webb refused to give us authorization to drive or repair her 2013 Lincoln MKX. We offered a complimentary rental vehicle to Mrs. Webb and that offer was refused as well. We appreciate all of our customers and stand behind the workmanship on the repairs completed in our service department. We want nothing more than to get to the source of Mrs. Webb's concerns. Unfortunately, she did not give us authorization to do that and left with her vehicle.
