My Review of Manhattan Jeep Chrysler Dodge:
Over the past 15 years I've bought or leased five cars from the Manhattan Jeep Chrysler Dodge dealership. I've always found them to be completely professional and helpful. Because of this I have kept coming back year after year. Obviously I love the cars and have always bought or leased the top-of-the-line Grand Cherokee. In December of 2008 I leased a new car from them before the latest economic downturn.
I'm a small business owner who's been lucky enough to do very well for over 20 years. Like many other people in my position the last recession was far more severe and damaging than any of the previous ones. I managed to get through it with my business and most of my assets intact but unfortunately my credit rating suffered as did many other peoples during the difficult last couple of years.
I had leased the car through Chrysler financing and was always able to make the payments although sometimes they were late. As the lease reached maturity this month I started exploring options to buy the car. Businesses has gotten better over the last six months to a year and I've started to repair my credit rating but apparently not enough to meet the criteria of TD Bank, the company that bought out Chrysler financing. I went to my bank but was unhappy with the interest rate and down payment required.
With less than a week to go before the lease expired I stopped in at the Manhattan dealership because I had a question. For the last month I had been trying to get TD Bank to send somebody out to do the final inspection on the car. They were completely disorganized and seemed incapable of getting it done. While I was there trying to find out what I needed to do before I turned the car in one of the new salespeople I didn't know asked me why I didn't buy the car. I explained the situation to him and he went and got Dan Aquino who has been the finance manager there for years and knows me personally.
After hearing my story Dan told me "there's no way I'm letting a five-time customer walk out of here unhappy." He got to work and by the next morning was able to get me financing at an acceptable interest rate and down payment.
Being in business myself for most of my life I know that when times are good and things are easy it's not difficult to make people happy. It's a different matter when the opposite is true. That's when you find out who's willing to put in the extra time and effort required to help a customer. I truly felt that the loyalty I have shown over the last 15 years was repaid. I wasn't treated as just another customer but as a friend they went out of their way to help. That's a rare thing to find in a large company.
The reason I wanted to write and tell you this is because we all know people will complain when they're not happy. What happens less often is somebody acknowledging when they are thrilled with the way they've treated. I wanted to do that to show my appreciation for the help they gave me.
David Monniger is the general sales manager and I've known him for many years and trusted him. When I leased my last car I had real concerns about the price of gas and David told me to go with the six cylinder instead of the eight because it got better mileage. He didn't have to do that, he could have sold me a more expensive car. When I expressed reservations about the lack of power with the six cylinder he assured me the power train had been reconfigured and I would barely know the difference. He was right and I got the 22 to 23 miles per gallon I was looking for.
David has put together a wonderful team at the Manhattan Jeep and Eagle dealership. As business improves and I pay this car off I can assure you that I will be back to buy or lease a new car from them as soon as possible.
