My first and last encounters with Eric were positive, but I preferred to negotiate via email rather than in person. the negotiations over email, IMHO, did not feel above board. I know enough about the industry that with a trade in the dealer hopes to make money on trade/resale and on sale of the used car. I acknowledged this in an email knowing they have make money and I want, at least what feels like is a fair deal. In one exchange, I noted that they had a similar 2018 BMW with similar mileage and features that was priced at about $34,000 on the used site. My trade offer was 27,000 and I asked for an increase. I noted the discrepancy in the email and the reply said that 1) my car was "damaged" which was not fully explained and 2) that the comparison car on the website was still a service loaner which was intentionally priced out of the market and thus not a fair comparison. Taking these as factual, I proceed to make a deal but was not surprised and yet quite disappointed when my trade-in appeared on the Kuni website for sale at over $33,000 and there no mention of any damage that was conveyed to me. As noted, the other encounters with Eric was positive. He was quite helpful getting the car ready and helping me connect my phone and understanding the new features. but the email exchange left a bad taste in my mouth, I don't know if those were Erics words or the sales manager behind him or just standard negotiating tactics for this dealership. I will note that I was simultaneously negotiating with another dealership for a quite similar 2021, Blue, X2 with only 6000 miles. the kuni car was my preferred because it still had a warranty. I almost went with the other car because the negotiations were much more pleasant and seemingly fair. So you asked for my thoughts on the experience and there it is. More
