Everyone is very pleasant and helpful, but they're still hiding reduced services behind a "Because of Covid" excuse. I've lived in the area for 3 years now, and haven't gotten a car wash with service the entire time, even before the pandemic. I understand that they're short-staffed - everyone is - but if they want me to pay premium prices, I expect premium services and the kind of customer care that makes me a loyal brand advocate instead of just another credit card. Case in point: when I recently brought my car in for a basic scheduled oil change, I was informed that my plan (3 years or 100k miles) had expired by a few weeks. It is amazing to me that BMW didn't do what so many other companies did during the pandemic and automatically extend these types of things by at least a few months, if not granting an additional year. That's likely out of this dealership's control, but if I had been the service rep, I would have offered a discount on that service at the very least, if not outright comping it. That one action would have ensured that my next BMW would be purchased from BMW Portland because *THAT* is the type of treatment I expect from a luxury product vendor. Heck, if my rep had even offered to call BMW and see if they could get a waiver for the one service, that would have been enough to make me think that at least they were trying to help, even if it was the standard "I'm sorry, it's out of my control" dodge that so many brands have resorted to now. Was I at fault in letting it expire before service? Of course, and I've certainly learned my lesson. But I've had far smaller companies do far more in trying to keep me engaged as a customer. All of the service I've had done here has been performed well and, as mentioned, everyone is very nice. It's a shame, however, that they've shown themselves to be just another dealership, no different than any other, instead of being the "Ultimate Driving Machine" dealership that goes that little extra bit. If you're still under warranty, or have an active pre-paid service plan, this service center is competent, if sometimes slow, and there's no reason to avoid them. But if you're on your own, you can find equivalent competency and customer service for a far lower price elsewhere. More
