Just some background on my initial review because I was asked to delete my review and also because I don’t usually write reviews especially negative ones. But I’ve had ongoing unresolved check engine problems since August 2021. With this check engine issue and the amount of money that I am paying to finance my Jeep, I feel my initial review is definitely warranted and should reflect my experiences. This is the first time I ever met Bob, the service manager, from Bayside Jeep. Bob was indeed very professional and courteous to me, but as Bob stated, the issues with my Jeep cannot be resolved because of a recall and/or manufacturing defect issue, etc. and they are not equipped to repair my Jeep now. Bob walked me over to the sales department next door to see what they could do for me. In sales, they ran my credit which btw is excellent and they also ran numbers and after a few hours of me being there, their best offers were to have me finance another vehicle which would be a USED vehicle with about 10-15 thousand miles more than my Jeep currently has, limited warranty and another 7 years of payments on top of a new loan even though I’ve already paid 2 years into my current loan. So at the conclusion of all this, I’d be paying even more money on a used vehicle with more mileage. I obviously refused as this was digging me into an even deeper hole. Because of unfortunate circumstances in my life, in October 2019, I was forced to give up/trade-in with Bayside Jeep our 2 vehicles, 1 of which was a brand new 2019 lifted Dodge RAM that we only had for about 5 months (we just financed it brand new in May 2019) and the 2nd vehicle was my husbands 2007 Toyota Tundra which was paid in full, in great condition and holds its value. So we actually GAVE Bayside Jeep my husband’s TUNDRA for FREE. They refused to accept the trade-in of our brand new RAM ONLY without us giving up our Tundra to them FOR FREE and also having me give them an additional $2,500.00. So to say that we were EXPLOITED and obviously TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF because of our situation is a huge understatement. This is the first time I went to Bayside Jeep from a referral and this is why I would never deal with this dealership again and defer anyone from going there. I still have warranty on my Jeep and this is the ONLY reason I am still servicing my Jeep there. A good friend advised that I should try CARVANA (there’s also an app) who quotes you the value of your vehicle online, etc. and allows you to purchase, trade-in and/or try out a vehicle for free for 7 days or return it without penalty or hassle because they deliver and pick-up the vehicle before ever dealing with dealerships again to avoid all the lies, hassle, hidden fees and being blindsided and duped for so much extra money all together next time. We had to do all this in order to lower our monthly payments by approximately $250.00/month which we were paying approximately $1,050.00/month for our RAM. Imagine, to only save another $250.00/month on a vehicle with way less value and way more over payment in the long run that’s giving me continuous problems now, look at the losses we had to swallow. Anyways they say hindsight is 20/20. Go figure, we gave up our 2 vehicles and I also had to put an additional $2,500.00 down in order for Bayside Jeep to accept the trade-in plus I’m currently paying $800.00/month for a Jeep Grand Cherokee that has check engine repair issues since August, which I have taken in for repair more than 4 times and that still can’t be fixed. So I am locked into an $800/month car note for 7 years since October 2019. I’ve already paid 2 full years into my loan for my Jeep. I have been promptly paying this amount for the past 2 years and I’m still locked in for another 5 years at $800.00/month, YES $800.00/month for a Jeep Grand Cherokee when my credit is and always has been excellent (over 800) so basically I’m driving a LEMON with an $800.00/month car note for another 5 years which when I finally pay-off my loan (in 2026) will be approximately $20,000.00 to $25,000.00 more than what my Jeep is actually worth. Until my Jeep can be repaired or replaced with another vehicle equivalent to mine, without me having to again spend even more money out of my pocket that I don’t have, then I don’t know what to do. Mind you, my Jeep has under 17,000 miles and is in mint condition and I never had an accident. So why wouldn’t I be really upset and distraught in this situation. Any one in my shoes would be really upset, especially when I have to keep leaving my Jeep with Bayside Jeep’s service shop for long periods of time for repair and same repair only lasts temporarily and the same check engine light keeps coming back on after picking up my Jeep and driving for a short time. I still continue to make my $800.00 monthly payments promptly but I have to be left without my vehicle waiting for repair that’s only temporary. That’s not cool. How is this my fault?! This is very upsetting because I have to work and I drive to work to pay my bills. Unfortunately, I don’t have the luxury of staying home and being without my vehicle for long periods of time because I need my Jeep to go to work. Also, Bayside Jeep doesn’t provide loaner vehicles which is another issue. I’ve already paid over $20,000.00 into my Jeep to-date, so basically I’m stuck with this problem and the same check engine issues with no foreseeable resolution. Bob’s professionalism was greatly appreciated, but the check engine repair problems with my Jeep still continue, and will continue from what Bob advised since they can’t fix this problem until they are able to get parts, etc. pursuant to this recall which Bob advised that he does not know when or if this will happen. So NO, the issues with my Jeep were not resolved to-date with Bayside Jeep. Bob did provide me with copies of my Jeep’s work repair orders and I now have to submit papers to the NYS Lemon Law Arbitration Program and hope and pray my vehicle is eligible and for some kind of decent resolution. At this point, I’m stuck and I really don’t know what to do anymore.
