We took the night to sit on what we were going to say on our review of Boucher Hyundai of Janesville. We are replacing our 2023 Palisade due to a bad hail storm we had a month ago. We had been to this loca our review of Boucher Hyundai of Janesville. We are replacing our 2023 Palisade due to a bad hail storm we had a month ago. We had been to this location for service in the past and liked this one better than another Hyundai location we had been to. We bought our last Palisade from the Madison location, but based on the service department and also being recommended by a close friend with the good service experience they had, we decided to go to Boucher. First of the Sales manager Cameron Mallory went above for us to with the pricing on the car due to a text message error that was sent on their part for an agreement of pricing for the car. He worked with Tim to honor that pricing and he was very professional! Once Tim sat with him to get the approval for the amount for the 2025 Palisade we asked Tim to generate a monthly price that our payment would roughly be at with so much money down. My wife decided to go forward and get the vehicle from their sister store and put a $500 down payment down and sign the sheet that had a rough estimate where we would be at monthly. The only “extra” cost we were told about would be the obvious tax and title fees. Now this is where it gets a bit shady and we were SO CLOSE to walking alway from the deal. After we finally got the insurance settlement, we texted Tim to schedule a pick up for Thursday (5/22). As soon as we arrived to the dealership Tim had us go right with the finance Manager Cory Botten. That’s where it went downhill, and we felt like we were getting bamboozled. As he was going over the paperwork, my wife and I noticed that they applied the Ceramic coating (ECP Plus Auto Armor car care) that was over $2,500. After telling Cory we never agreed to that, his response was didn’t you guys sign the sheet that had it on there when you put the down payment down. The sheet had the selling price of the vehicle typed up that we agreed to and Tim wrote the ECP) on the right side (with no pricing or anything) and NEVER asked us if we wanted it. He put the laminated sheet in front of us that shows what “value” it offers but we did say we aren’t interested in that but potentially an extended warranty but NOT the ceramic coating. My wife signed off since she was agreeing to the selling price not any shady add ons that was bundled in to the price. After we explained that to Cory he was in shock because the coating was already applied to the vehicle. Because it was never agreed to have the car protection plan they did take the charge off and obviously we still had the coating since they can’t rip that off. Cory was VERY robotic and his pitch was very scripted. Very flat personality. Zero personalization to the transaction and it felt like he memorized a script. We asked for a breakdown of the extended service prices he wasn’t able to provide that cost even tho we then signed that we decline it with a monthly breakdown in what the price would have been for each. For the extended warranty, we were presented with either a zero deductible or a 250. Nothing else. After we notice a 100 deductible with zero at the selling dealership, but that was not presented at all. We were also told that there was finance deals 4.99 for 60months or 5.99 for 72. Longer term was 7 something with Hyundai financial. When we got there the interest was for 7.69% and were told they didn’t know anything about any other specials - how does the finance department not know about either current or recent specials? Didn’t have much option besides to take this and will refinance at our bank for less then the original interest rate anyway. It felt like we were being an inconvenience to the finance dept rather then the excitement that you should have when someone gets a new car. We were not impressed that Tim added the car care protection without our knowledge and not impressed with your finance manager. We will still recommend the dealership even with the experience we had. It took almost 2 months to get the car fixed. I know this wasn't the fault of the service department, my only complaint is that communication was not the best.
