Definition of a bad dealership This is a strange review for me to write because I got the Jeep I wanted and at a price that was very good. One star for each of those positives. Th This is a strange review for me to write because I got the Jeep I wanted and at a price that was very good. One star for each of those positives. The problem is that I felt dirty and stupid when it was all said and done. I need to take some ownership as well. I really wanted that Jeep and went in a little under the weather and not paying attention; dangerous when swimming with sharks. First, they offered me $9000 less than KBB "trade-in Value" for the truck I was trading in; yes, I said $9000 less. When I inquired about the disparity, they said they never offer KBB, but rather auction estimated prices. My trade was a 2014 RAM 1500 LIMITED with only 16K miles; not exactly an auction vehicle. My saving grace was that I had already been to CARMAX and had an offer in my back pocket; that offer was slightly more than KBB! Since Carl Burger has a promotional policy of beating CARMAX (good policy!), they had to agree to beat CARMAX. What if I had not had the CARMAX offer? What if I were in a more vulnerable situation? Can you say stereotypical underhanded car dealer practices? If I were not already in love with the Jeep, I would have walked. This is why I felt dirty. Second, the finance process is everything you've read, heard, and maybe experienced about high pressure warrantee sales practices. I told the guy (Mike) I didn't want the extended warrantee; period. I told him I just wanted the refund I had coming to me from the remainder of the RAM warrantee and was happy with the standard manufacturers warrantee. That's when the tactics came out; "let me make you an offer you can't refuse, etc., etc." And short story long, I end up walking away without my RAM warrantee refund and with a warrantee I never really wanted. This is why I rightfully felt stupid. I was tired and not feeling well and let this happen to me. Then again, should we have to protect ourselves when we clearly say "I don't want it"? Answer; not if you go to a good car dealership. Lastly, the salesperson didn't have a clue about the products he was selling. Every time I asked an easy technical question, he had to go get "an expert". In fact I knew more about the Jeep than he did based on the last Jeep I owned more than 15 years ago! His greatest contribution to the Jeep information discussion, and he was so very proud of it too, was to tell us the seven slots in the grill represented the seven continents where Jeeps have performed. I still can't look at the grill of my Jeep without laughing. At the end of every car buying experience, big and small, that I can remember, the dealer does a thorough walkthrough of every feature of the vehicle; sometime to annoying detail. Well, since these guys didn't apparently know much about their Jeeps the final walk-through consisted of a "so got any questions?" When I asked about taking the top down the guy told me to check out the great You Tube video's! At that I got in a drove away feeling dirty, stupid, and perplexed. But, I did drive away in a great little Jeep. Bottom line; they had the vehicle I wanted and at the price I wanted to pay, but wow, easily the most stereotypical and unprofessional dealership I have ever encountered. I have bought vehicle from these guys before and things were better; I will not do so again. More
