Mr. Baird, Thank you so much for your feedback, regarding your experience with Casey Kia. I would like to clarify your statement with regards to surrendering your license plates. When you turned in your 2017 Sorento, I instructed the sales consultant to return your VA license plates to you, to surrender to DMV. As I explained to you on May 13, this was to protect your interests especially in light of the current staffing situations at DMV. If you cancel your automobile insurance on a vehicle prior to surrendering license plates or transferring those plates to your next purchase, there may be an issue regarding an “Uninsured Motor Vehicle”. While this is an issue that can be remedied with valid paperwork, it would require additional steps and interaction with DMV, from you. As you recall, this is the explanation I gave you. As a company, we make regular runs to DMV, to process necessary information from our customers. I shared that if we took the plates, and they weren’t released in the system, it may lead to additional problems. I also, shared with you that I still have the license plates from my mothers’ vehicle that I am waiting to return to DMV before I cancel her automobile insurance. I I remember the conversation a little differently. The tags wer given to me and then you told me to turn them into DMV. You then said to make sure I got a receipt. I was then told not to cancel the insurance until the tags were turned in, because the state is a little funny about that. End of discussion. Two days later, we talked on the phone. Same conversation, although I mentioned what I found on the DMV website and you spoke aboit your mother. I called DMV, who asked why the dealership did not turn them due to the DMV being closed because of the pandemic. They told me you could have done it. I am not here to argue.. I only wish to offer feedback with Casey Kia over the last three years. Again, overall, not a pleasant experience. I will never do business with Casey Kia again.
