A terrible sales experience Thank you for asking me for my feedback regarding my auto purchase at Cortese Ford. I have been a Ford owner and a service customer at Cortese for cl Thank you for asking me for my feedback regarding my auto purchase at Cortese Ford. I have been a Ford owner and a service customer at Cortese for close to 15-years. But actually, I was unable to buy a car from Cortese. More accurately, I THOUGHT that I did buy a car. I signed papers and placed a deposit. Please read the notes below… I have been in business in Rochester for close to 40-years and have never been treated in such a degrading manner as I was at Cortese Ford. I appreciate the opportunity to let John Cortese know the details of my experience. It started as expected. The salesman, Burt and I negotiated a deal in good faith. When I arrived, Burt introduced me to a specific vehicle. The vehicle matched my needs and was the vehicle that Cortese wanted to sell. We drove the vehicle. Burt kept asking if I liked the vehicle…Would I buy this vehicle? He qualified me. I came in with an extremely high credit score. I was upfront about what I wanted to spend. We negotiated, we negotiated and we negotiated…for 2-1/2 hours! Burt consulted with managers at the “secret” window 4-different times while I waited patiently. Two different people looked at and drove my vehicle 2-different times. Each time that Burt came back to the table he gently raised the price to me or changed the terms. He introduced me to different finance deals. Finally, we agreed. We worked together until we had a deal. Blessed by the sales managers. Approved by managers. All good. Smiles and laughs all around. Then Burt shook my hand, took my signatures and took my money. At any point, someone could have said that we couldn’t work it out. That would have been ok. But nobody did. I was promised me delivery the next day. Boy was I excited. I cleaned out and vacuumed the car. I wiped out the Sirius radio and my Bluetooth phone. I scraped off the car wash sticker and the sticker to my daughter’s college. I rushed to two banks to make certain that you had the papers you needed. Nobody said a word. On Saturday, I sat patiently again for another hour in the showroom and talked with the other sales guys AND the managers at the window while Burt finished up with another customer. Another hour… happily waiting for the car. Sitting in the showroom. Still nobody said a word. Then Burt said “follow me” and I followed him into the finance office with my checkbook in hand. Ready to finish the deal and to buy an extended warranty. Burt left. He left me with the finance guy and the sales manager who told me that the deal couldn’t happen. Somebody screwed up. No counter offer was made. They just couldn’t sell me the car because the deal wasn’t right. I asked that they bring Burt in the room. Conveniently, he wasn’t available. I never asked the dealer what bank they were financing through or the rate. I never suggested my bank or my rates. If Cortese needed to make a point or a point and a half on the loan... I was fine with it. I was fine with the deal that they designed and that they approved. THEIR deal. But instead I was dismissed to walk out. Dismissed. After 15-years as a loyal service customer. Never questioning repair work on any of my vehicles. After buying lunch for all the service writers on different occasions...or donuts in the morning when I had a service appointment. Ask them. I enjoyed every service encounter. But to be dismissed from the sales area like my time was meaningless... to be flipped on a deal, like the hours we spent test driving and negotiating in good faith were unimportant? Unimportant? Maybe to the salespeople at Cortese. I can tell you that in all the time that I have been in business, in all the negotiations that I have brokered, in all the hands that I shook at the end of a deal, I ended all of them in good faith and with honesty and integrity. If I ever let a customer down, I made good on it...personally. The Cortese people did not. John Cortese should be embarrassed by the actions of his sales manager and of Burt Lyon. At any time, they could have called me and cancelled the deal and saved me the wasted time and embarrassment of driving back and sitting in the showroom for nothing. I just can’t get this experience out of my head. There is more to this than just me not buying a car. I can’t go back to the place that I trusted and was most comfortable with for service. John Cortese should know. And frankly, John Cortese should care. Because Burt and the others represent John Cortese...his name on the building and his name in this community. It’s not entirely about the car. It’s about the Cortese name and yeah, maybe it’s a little bit about my pride. I’d like to know where I go to get that back. More

Computer stopped working in Ford Edge I called after trying to reboot the computer and getting no power just dead screen I rely on navigation and No control of the Heating Cooling in th I called after trying to reboot the computer and getting no power just dead screen I rely on navigation and No control of the Heating Cooling in the vehicle Lack of radio was inconvenient but Ok I can live without music. Although on a new vehicle this should not happen at all. First VISIT - waited over 2 hours while they disconnected and reconnected battery to try to reboot HAD TO WAIT a week for next appointment so they could diagnose the problem - REALLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE WITH FIRST APPOINTMENT!!!! They had a good idea what part it was and KNEW THEY HAD TO ORDER IT - if it was not the correct part they could send it BACK. Before inconveniencing the customer they should have ordered that part so they could FIX A 2016 vehicle UNDER WARRANTY with only 20,000 MILES Instead they implied that I should have purchased a extended warranty, are you kidding me!!! SELL SELL SELL Third visit required me to again get a ride over and leave the car overnight until after 3 PM the next day to install the part (also sending me a text was very COLD - I expected a phone call with explanation of what work was done and that the vehicle was ready - in fact I had hoped for a ride to come get the SUV. Instead I again had to find my own ride to pick up this vehicle!) Most dealers give out loaners/rental vehicle I was given some BS about the GM Buyout - and that it would cost me $30 per day....I can rent my own vehicle for less. I was looking for convince and customer appreciation in actions NOT WORDS. THEN THEY DID NOT CHECK TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WORKED for example Sirius radio So when I finally got the vehicle home I had to spend over 2 hours sitting in my driveway with the vehicle running and on my cell phone with Sirius trying to download and reconnect service. The shuttle service although nice, is not acceptable for a customer who services vehicle every 5,000 miles "The Works" and purchases a new FORD VEHICLE at least 1 every four years. Keeping them under the warranty limits. More
