I know that waiting so long to get your car serviced can be very frustrating. While having an indicator light on is helpful in diagnosing your vehicle, there are many components to your cooling system other than your thermostat. To diagnose your vehicle correctly the engine block needed to cool which can take up to a few hours. Your cooling system not only has a thermostat to regulate the temperature of your engine but also cooling fans, water pump, etc. Our tech needed to check the entire system to be sure that whatever issue your vehicle was having, he diagnosed and replaced the correct part. If the part was not on hand at the dealership, then he would have had to order the part in from our parts vendor. All of this takes time and when you are the person waiting, I understand why you felt it took much longer that you anticipated. Our service advisor should have done a better job explaining the time frame to complete the service on your vehicle. Obviously he failed to keep you informed. For that I apologize. That is just sloppy work and I will make no excuses for the tech that didn't do his job correctly. I am not going to make excuses for the poor service you received. No excuse for our tech not checking to make sure the oil plug was correctly installed. We are taking full responsibility for the engine failure. We have ordered a replacement engine that we anticipate will be in this week. I understand that does not alleviate your frustration but I want you to know that we sincerely apologize for the error. We are all human and make mistakes.
