Terrible experience at East Hills Subaru Roslyn. Why be in the car selling business if you're too bothered to actually sell any cars! Refused to provide a test drive because car is too highly valued Why be in the car selling business if you're too bothered to actually sell any cars! Refused to provide a test drive because car is too highly valued (I drove in a car valued 2.5x to the dealer). I went to another Subaru dealership the next day to purchase a car. East Hills has lost a local customer for life! More

My sales consultant, Jessica Heffernan, was extremely professional, patient, and compassionate and empathic to my needs to replace my current vehicle, 1992 Nissan Sentra E, with one that would meet my fi professional, patient, and compassionate and empathic to my needs to replace my current vehicle, 1992 Nissan Sentra E, with one that would meet my financial status at this time. I am a fan of East Hills Subaru, and Subaru's in general, especially the Impreza, and Japanese cars. There is a 2017 white hatchback Impreza I was interested in financing. Ms. Heffernan provided me with several financial options to meet a reasonable monthly payment. When the numbers did not match my budget she offered me another option to lease a 2023 hatchback Impreza. I left the dealership to contemplate the options presented to me. A couple of days passed before I decided to test drive the 2017 Impreza and declined the lease option. After the road test with the Impreza I realized I was driving a luxury car compared to my Sentra. Jessica presented me several financial options for the Impreza and shared with me the CARFAX report. Again, I needed time to think about either financing the car or to buy it outright. At the end of the day neither were an option for me at this time. Unfortunately, I informed Ms. Heffernan of my decision to decline the 2017 Impreza however, again, she did share with me the lease and option to buy a 2023 Impreza. My credit is good but, today, for me, is not a good time to finance or lease a car. My 1992 Nissan Sentra E that has 259,000 miles and is a four-speed will have to meet my needs at this time. Again, thank you Jessica Heffernan for your support. More
I had an amazing experience with Jessica Heffernan and Steve at East Hills! They helped me quickly step into a Crosstrek of my dreams, couldn’t be happier :) Steve at East Hills! They helped me quickly step into a Crosstrek of my dreams, couldn’t be happier :) More
Worse experience ever, they charge me $816 for an oil change, tire rotation and brake fluid flush. My car is under warranty. When I tried to speak to someone they refused to take my complaint. Ok, I’ve given them a five star rating, now here’s the skinny of the experience my wife and I had at East Hills Subaru. Buying a car is complicated process no matter what you do. This process is shepherde skinny of the experience my wife and I had at East Hills Subaru. Buying a car is complicated process no matter what you do. This process is shepherded by salespeople who earn commission, so who you get is important. At East Hills Subaru, the salesperson we got was Jeff Olson, and later Sol Park. Both were friendly and professional. They both listened to what we needed and laid out the decisions we had to make in plain language with minimal sales pressure. Hard to ask for more than that. You should definitely: - Do your homework and be prepared to walk away if you need to. - Listen to their advice, maybe you had some misconceptions about a vehicle or terms. Still up to you, but always good to get information before deciding. - Make a list of things that are non-negotiable to you and what isn’t. - Get the price of the car first, then talk about how you’re going to pay. Things I liked: - No made up charges (e.g., advertising fee, delivery fee, etc.) - No high-markup charges (e.g., Nitrogen filled tires, decal packages, etc.) - Quickly got down to offer a price for two vehicles we were considering. - Our salesperson Jeff was ok with us taking our time and also gave us space to discuss things on our own. Jeff didn’t panic or pressure us when we decided to leave to eat lunch and talk it over. - Sol was very patient and explained what he was doing at every step. Both Jeff’s and Sol’s processes were very transparent. - Overall, as a former salesperson of various things, I can say that neither Jeff nor Sol were pushy or used any cliche sales techniques. We had one bone of contention and after short discussion Jeff made it happen quickly, saving a trip back and a lot of hassle. Things I didn’t like: - No one likes paying more than MSRP, but times are what they are and while at lunch I did some more legwork and found that we would wind up paying more at all or most of the other dealers in the LI/NYC/Hudson Valley area. So happy, not really, satisfied over this issue, grudgingly. - I felt that asking to test drive the car that I was going to purchase wasn’t a huge ask. East Hills has a small lot and keep some inventory off-site about 3 miles away. That being the case though, having staff ready to make a test drive request happen at any time is essential. That’s more on management and planning than the sales staff. Jeff saw that it was important to us and made it happen. - My wife had read something about the drive train of one year having a technical problem. That was never addressed head on with an answer. Just “We’ve never had that issue.” kind of response. That made me a bit uneasy. In the internet age, have an answer. Not having an answer, or a pat this-thing-doesn’t-exist is a negative IMHO. Honestly Subaru Corporate should provide answers like that from a sales enablement perspective, and not leave salespeople out in the cold. Not really a salesperson ding, but more of a sales material shortcoming of management/corporate. Conclusion: Would I recommend? Yes, I felt good about the purchase and would come back. We got a lot of honest and good advice that helped us make this purchase. The dealership was has some pressure, but this experience was by no means a high-pressure sales environment. What pressure there was came mostly from the high value of the thing being purchased and the nature of that process. Good job Jeff and Sal! Thanks for all the hard work! Prolog: I pulled into a 7/11 parking lot to pick up something and a guy in a Subaru Forester rolled down his window and complimented me on the new Crosstrek. He said he was jealous and was thinking about checking it out. I had no hesitation about directing him to East Hills; although, he said he knew someone at another dealership. I haven’t owned a car before, my wife hasn’t owned one in more than 20 years, and we didn’t expect it to be such a tribal experience ;-) More
Purchased an Outback from them.. biggest mistake of my life. Dealer Jeff was incompetent, didn’t know anything about the car - guaranteed us the financing promo only for the finance guy to tell us absolut life. Dealer Jeff was incompetent, didn’t know anything about the car - guaranteed us the financing promo only for the finance guy to tell us absolutely not. service even worse, can’t even get a call back when I had an issue. They offered a free oil change I chose to pay somewhere else so I didn’t have to go back. They booked an oil change for me 6 months after I picked up the car. Took it to another dealer and they said “they should have booked you at 3k miles the oil is temporary”. Now I need more maintenance because east hills doesn’t know what they’re doing. Do yourself a favor and NEVER work with them. They charge over MSRP because they “have to”, to give you a car they lie about, at a crazy price. Run as far away as possible, all they care about is asking you to leave a good google review .. must have been asked 3x. But when I told them the brand new, factory built, car I ordered had a broken piece of plastic by the gas pedal.. no response More
