Just purchased our Ford Escape there and happy with it. (so, 4 stars on that). HOWEVER, if you are buying a car at EchoPark and financing it, watch out and pay attention to the terms. Our salesman, Jeremy, and finance manager, Sierra, slipped in a service plan that we weren’t asked or informed of before the final accounting. Running through the numbers of monthly payments, Jeremy merely said, “And this includes a service warranty that has coverage across the entire U.S,” as we were signing papers. Red flag. Great — so that’s included with the purchase, we asked? Well, no. It was additional, Jeremy said. But just a “little bit” more to our monthy, 48-month plan. “Just a little bit,” he repeated. I calculated what a “little bit” was and in total, it added $4,800 to our purchase price, or $100 a month to our payments. Steamed, I told him to take it off, AS WELL as the $450 “gap insurance” they also tried to slip in after we also discovered it. Just be careful folks. Don't be preyed upon. I'm sure this is where dealers make their bank by taking advantage of folks who might be a little frazzled making their their second biggest purchase after a home. Made me think how many people who unwittingly signed off on those things in a stressful whirlwind of car buying. Some people will glad-hand you, slap you on the back, while their other hand is in your pocket. Watch out, just sayin’. Shameful. More
