Attempted to buy a car today, cash deal for a used 2024 CPO Jetta. The price was fair, we were ready to put down a deposit, then the dealer fees included VIN etching, which we do not feel a need to pay fo CPO Jetta. The price was fair, we were ready to put down a deposit, then the dealer fees included VIN etching, which we do not feel a need to pay for. The salesman informed us that the dealership considers the VIN etch add on to be non-negotiable. We walked, after wasting our time on getting there (1 hour round trip) and test driving. Executive VW in North Haven loses a $24,000+ sale for a $399 unnecessary upcharge. Further, they have lost an entire family of potential customers forever. More
