UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES! I am very dissatisfied with my experience at Family Hyundai Tinley Park. Although 100% of my vehicle’s oil changes have been performed at Family Hyun I am very dissatisfied with my experience at Family Hyundai Tinley Park. Although 100% of my vehicle’s oil changes have been performed at Family Hyundai Tinley Park, in late 2019, the oil dipstick on my Elantra was bone-dry! It took two quarts of oil to get the oil level back to normal. This is documented with photos and videos. Family Hyundai then started an oil consumption analysis. Each 1000 miles, the technicians checked my oil level and added approximately 1/2 quart each visit. On the 3rd and final visit, I was told, “you passed…no oil added.” About 10 days later and 650 miles, the oil was down a full quart. 1.0 quarts consumed in 650 miles is not acceptable. I then took the Elantra into Family Hyundai for the scheduled oil change, and mentioned the additional consumption. The service department asked if I would like to conduct a second oil consumption analysis; I agreed. After 1000 miles, I checked the oil dipstick (cold) before bringing the vehicle to Family Hyundai for the first of three consumption checks. The oil level was near the bottom of the hash mark area, indicating approximately 0.8-0.9 quarts consumed. When my vehicle was ready at the dealership, I was told by Crystal, “No oil was added, there was no oil consumption.” We then brought the conversation over to Mike, the service manager. My question was, if it was down almost a whole quart of oil in the morning, how was it suddenly “OK?” Mike then conceded that the oil level was low, but within the hash mark area, and added, “I’m not going to add any oil.” I advised Mike that this was not a test to see if the oil level was within operating range, but rather, this was an analysis of the engine’s oil consumption. If the engine is consuming oil, this should be documented during the oil consumption analysis shop visit. Mike kept being evasive, but finally admitted, “We’re having all kinds of ‘Blow-By’ problems with these Elantras, so I’m not adding any more oil.” Despite my continued request, Mike refused to resolve this issue. The service documents Crystal Duran provided read, “Customer states engine is consuming oil. No oil was added. The oil was full to on the test.” So, Mike’s statement (concurring that the oil was on the very bottom portion of the dipstick hash mark), was contradicted by the statements Crystal placed on the service document. Additionally, when I returned home, and the vehicle had cooled for approximately 3 hours, the oil level on the dipstick was 100% FULL! Oil had indeed been added by Family Hyundai. Furthermore, when I had checked the oil level upon returning home, I noticed the small O-ring on the dipstick was missing. The O-ring was present before going to the dealership, so the only explanation is that Family Hyundai’s technician had removed the O-ring. Why would a technician remove an O-ring? Well, this would slightly VENT the Engine’s Crank Case Pressure, which would lessen the chances of oil “blow-by,” and reduce the engine’s oil consumption. Family Hyundai is not only falsifying the oil consumption analysis, but they are now altering the original (OEM) factory equipment, to dishonestly reduce the oil consumption. This is fraudulent. More

When I brought my car in to be fixed I had told them I had to be out by 2 p.m because children were coming home at 2:30 . When the dealer knew how long it was going to take he immediately got me a loaner for the rest of the day and sent me on my way within minutes. I got home in plenty of time for the kids and returned the car the next day to get my car. Thanks so much to Family Hyundai. Forgot to tell you they also sent me a 10% coupon which saved me $150.00 on the repair. More
