I have been eyeing Broncos for some time. As many have found out, they are a bit scarce in some configurations, and ordering one, well you must be patient and alive for the right one after a As many have found out, they are a bit scarce in some configurations, and ordering one, well you must be patient and alive for the right one after a long wait. So on a recent 104 degree day, I thought it would be safe to stop by and see what this dealer had in stock on the lot. I thought it was safe as any salesman would be dissuaded by the heat, and probably leave me alone. In this case, fortunately I was wrong. Maurice Diab came out to greet me, to my at first disappointment, but he grew on me. Friendly, not pushy, and wanted to know if I wanted to drive a new Bronco. I agreed and was impressed with the vehicle. But they did not have the one I wanted, and I was not convinced I wanted to buy. I stopped by the lot a few days later, and Maurice was helpful, but again I was not that serious, but before leaving, I told him what I was looking for right down to the sound system. You see four wheel drive options are important, but I rarely leave the roadway on purpose anyway, and any disconnect features have been at accident scenes after impacts or so I am told. So I didn’t need all of the rugged stuff, as long as it looked rugged with a luxury twist. I owned a Rubicon, and although I loved it, every drive on the local streets seemed like an off road adventure, and being 6-4, my head would consistently hit the roll bar, so between the suspension and the poor street surroundings, that was getting old. The Bronco is much roomier, more comfortable for me, had a better street ride, smoother and high tech, which I may even master some day. So a few days later Maurice called me, and of course I was a bit annoyed as who wants sales people calling them…..? But he was very nice again and seemed to get it, but in this message he also mentioned that they had a model come in from an order cancellation, I might like. Yeah sure Maurice was my mental take on this, but when I stopped by the next day, well he was right. This was the one, exactly, with the equipment I was looking for, and so the timing was not perfect but when fate strikes, well that usually means spending money. Once the negotiations were completed with a nice savvy sales manager, which must have been a win-win, as I didn’t hear any snickering as I left, the deal was done. I enjoyed dealing with Maurice, he is a no pressure guy, but does ask every now and then if was am ready to buy the car I was sitting in, while I was probably doing the math in my head, so I had to start over. This time his timing was right, and style was appreciated. I have purchased lots of cars in my life, and have had experiences from horrible up to great. Dealing with Maurice and Jesse was a pleasure, but then again I have not made my first payment yet. But that was my fault…….Now let’s see how parts and service does…………... More
