My story began on a Friday shopping in Columbia at all the dealerships looking for my new car. I had a good idea as to what I wanted in my new car and it had to have all the bells and whistles. However, I couldn't find the car in Columbia so then I drove to Jefferson City later that evening (10:30pm) looking at the Ford Escapes at Joe Machens Capital City Ford. I found some cars that I was interested in and then went home and researched the Escape online and then shopped the joemachenscapitalcityford.com website for Jeff City and sent an email on the car that I liked. First thing Saturday morning I received an email and phone call from Cody wanting to know when I would like to see the Escape. I told him I would be there in a couple hours. When I pulled in the parking lot I saw the car I was interested in sitting right up front shinning and detailed and that made me smile. Cody, met me immediately and genuinely welcomed me to Joe Machens Ford Jeff City and offered me a drink and some popcorn. He stated he had my the car parked up front cleaned and detailed and with a temporary license on it as well as having gas put in it ready for me to test drive and this was all within a couple of hours after we had spoken on the phone. Cody was extremely knowledgable on all the features and benefits of my car and his enthusiasm just helped me in making the decision to purchase the Escape. Of course, I didn't want to come off being to excited as we still had to do the "dreaded deal making" along with what I would get on my trade in. However, he worked with me and his manager and made it painless. After I accepted the offer he then handed me off to the finance person to finish my purchase. When I was done with the financing he had me come back into his office and he had taken the time to sign me up on owner.ford.com and syncinfo@ford.com as well as he had taken the time to print off some cheat-sheets of the most common voice commands that I could reference, which has been utilized many times since my purchase. I then drove off the parking lot with a smile on my face in my new car and couldn't wait to show it to my family and friends. Great Management I went to Joe Machens because they were the only dealership nearby that had the discontinued model vehicle I was looking for. I admit, I'm not a car dealer's favorite customer; I was looking for a low-priced used vehicle, and my credit is mediocre. Our salesman, Derek Streeter, was friendly enough, but he tried to offer me a very small amount for my trade in. He tried to tell me that "no one uses Kelley Blue Book values anymore", but once I mentioned that I had actually valued my trade on the Joe Machens website (which uses KBB values), he brought the price up. The rest of the purchase process was fine. Terry Bradshaw was very friendly and quick with the paperwork. About a week afterwards, I noticed the car was overheating. I had just received a follow-up email from Derek, so I replied to him and let him know what was going on. He ignored me. I waited almost a week and resent my email via the website instead of directly to Derek. I received a reply from General Manager Tom Stegeman, who offered to run a diagnostic check on the car. As the car had no remaining warranty, I was very happy with that offer. Not only did they diagnose my car, but they took it to the local Chevy dealership for a new radiator (and another part that I was unfamiliar with) and did not charge me anything. It would have cost me over $700, and for a car with no warranty, I was not expecting any help with the actual repair. The service department was also extremely friendly. While I was not pleased with my particular salesman, the "above and beyond" service I received from Tom and the service department more than made up for it. With that kind of management, I would definitely recommend Joe Machens Capital City to anyone. More

Joe Machens in JC had a couple that we were interested in. Went back on Monday and test drove them. Derek was very helpful and suggested we take it home and keep it for a couple of days. Derek and Rick worked to make us feel comfortable with our trade in deal and with the dealer certification that we wanted on the new car.
