I had been looking for a specific Ford F-150 for about 18 months. When their yr, make & model showed up on the many websites I had set up filters for, I decided to call. The staff who answered my call assure months. When their yr, make & model showed up on the many websites I had set up filters for, I decided to call. The staff who answered my call assured me that Gainley Ford wasn’t like most of the competition. I was assured that they were very near the top of the list when it came to courtesy, transparency, negotiations, knowledgable staff and extremely competent service. The truck was at a price I was considering, with mileage below my cutoff number, having one previous owner and a carfax stating no recorded accidents and with many of its service records. Knowing what I needed vs knowing what I wanted prompted me to drive almost an hour and a half for an appointment to test drive the truck. At the dealership, I was met by a friendly and welcoming salesperson. Jennifer was expecting me and knowing how far I’d driven, asked if I needed the restroom or anything else. She had the freshly washed truck, presented well out front and waiting. Jennifer gave me time to look it over before we together took it out on a test drive. She gave me directions through the surrounding area and onto the freeway before we returned to the dealership. She remained quiet while I drove; allowing me to listen to the truck and get a feel for it’s performance, which I greatly appreciated. Upon returning she reminded me that the dealership prides themselves on transparency and knowledge for the third time since I had arrived. As we looked over the features in the lot, I noticed that she missed or overlooked many of the most important optional ones. To my benefit, she neglected to point out more than a few of some of the most expensive ones ie the optional upgraded V-8 5.0L with Flex Fuel capability, automatic parking, remote engine start, upgraded rims, the additional optional cameras, sensors, additional LED lights, rain sensing wipers, heated/cooled front seats and heated rear ones just to list some. From there we went inside to sit down and talk about price. I really appreciated all of the work that the dealership performed on the vehicle prior to putting it on their lot being listed plainly and transparently. I appreciated the itemized cost sheet, though belying their claims of transparency there were a few fees a great number of dealers try to clump into legitimate sounding fees. A first time buyer may not realize that they don’t have to pay, nor should they…. Some of those ‘fees’ are strictly the cost of doing business. I did appreciate the manager not willing to lose the sale over them. I also appreciated them delivering the truck to me at my workplace the next morning and saving me the time and gas in returning to pick it up the next day. I did not trade anything in so I would have spent nearly six hours on the road in two days to purchase the truck. I will say, this next point may be … shame on me for not asking or assuming.. when I went to get in it during my lunch, I was surprised to see the unsightly white paper used to keep the carpets from getting dirty. When I picked up the firs one, I immediately realized why they were still there. There were no other mats in the truck! I also noticed that I would have to do a deeper and more attention to detail cleaning job. There was a greasy or oil based substance soaked into the felt window glass runner or trainer (the fixed felt piece on the inside of the four doors that sits inside of the actual door itself). Every time I opened the window; whether it was part, half or three quarter of the way, a brown sticky line would be left when I put the window back up. I did’t expect to find these annoyances and lack of expert cleanlinesses. Were I to have bought this very same, very well maintained used vehicle in 2018-19, I might have expected to just grab the bucket, hot soapy water, armor all, windex, leather conditioner/protectant, paper towels, Q-tips and soft cloths… roll up my sleeves and get to work doing it myself… Yet, in the middle of a pandemic when so many people are now turning into germaphobes, I wasn’t expecting the dealership to have missed so much. I also wish that someone would have returned my call in regards to asking about the mats! That said I am pleased with the truck!! All of the features I needed, all the features I wanted, a few features I didn’t think I really needed but do really like now that I have and the price! If I weren’t.. I’d still be looking…. More
