My car was brought in for inspection and oil change. I was told I would probably be exempt from emissions, which I was. Then why was I charged $29.95 for it? When a car does not need much service, rathe I was told I would probably be exempt from emissions, which I was. Then why was I charged $29.95 for it? When a car does not need much service, rather than loose money on your vehicle, a dealership will always "drum up" other items they say "should be changed" or "should be replaced" even though the car is hardly driven and only has an additional 1,000 miles, or close to that, since last inspection. Last inspection, I was told the filter in the very back, underneath the hood, should be replaced. I don't know the name of it. In my 55 years of driving and maintaining my own vehicles, I have never heard of this until now!! He also advised that it was not easy to remove and would require a mechanic - naturally. I am retired and on Social Security. I have always maintained my vehicles, but now being on a monthly budget, can not walk out of the garage with a $500.00 receipt every visit. With this past visit I got The Works Fuel Saver Package oil change. The service manager said that is what they would give me, topping off all fluids, oil change and tires rotated. Between the charges for all of that and that bogus $29.95, my bill still came to $152.10. Taking my car to the dealership is convenient and I was very grateful for the pick up and drop off service offered being partially disabled, however, that still does not make me happy when the service department looks for ways to add items to your bill. 2019 Ranger. AC wouldn't cool on driver side. 10 minutes on the internet diagnosed an extremely common design defect of the 2019 Ranger, blend door actuator. M AC wouldn't cool on driver side. 10 minutes on the internet diagnosed an extremely common design defect of the 2019 Ranger, blend door actuator. Made and appointment and told them I had the blend door actuator problem. Dropped off the vehicle for an 8;30am appointment, again stating the blend door actuator problem, and at the end of the day they called and said they diagnosed the problem as a blend door actuator and needed to order parts. 2nd appointment scheduled after notification that the parts arrived. No call by the end of the day so I went to the dealership, no one knew anything about my car or status. Called someone who had left for the day and found out they hadn't ordered all of the necessary parts , the problem wasn't fixed and I was free to take my Ranger home and they would call to reschedule when the parts arrived. Third appointment scheduled after the additional parts arrived. KR called the morning of scheduled appointment and said they were affected by the worldwide computer glitch and couldn't perform the repair. Fourth appointment scheduled, Ranger picked up in the morning (text said they would call when they were on their way but didn't). At the end of the day KR called and said they weren't able to complete the repair and needed an additional day (over the weekend) and would complete on Monday, which they did. On the positive, KR did not charge me for the additional part/labor for the misdiagnosis, and provided a rental vehicle over the weekend free of charge (again said they would call when they were on their way to drop off but did not call). $1,700 and 4 appointments later this very common 2019 Ranger problem appears to be fixed. Inefficiencies aside, the people involved at KR were very polite and good to deal with. More
