Four hours and 30 minutes for a tire change. Last year wife and I leased a top of the line Kia Sedona. When we leased the car we also contracted for tire and wheel insurance costing $499. All th Last year wife and I leased a top of the line Kia Sedona. When we leased the car we also contracted for tire and wheel insurance costing $499. All that was built into my lease agreement. We love the car! Two nights ago wife was driving home after work, on busy I-75 late at night. The rear tire blew out. After calling Road Service I drove her car home using the spare. The next morning I went to our Wesley Chapel FL Kia Dealer where we had taken the lease and picked up the Sedona. I was told it would be an hour...maybe an hour and 15 minutes....so I decided to wait. I was told by a very sweet young woman (Heather) that she would call the insurance company for authorization so that they would pay for the new tire ($256.) Heather kept trying to her hardest to get authorization but she had to send pictures of the tire and my tire contract. She did all that....but the authorization was not forthcoming. So, after 4 hours I went to the "Sales Manager" who wanted me to pay for the tire change and supposedly I'd be reimbursed by the insurance company. I was not prepared to hassle with a different company for reimbursement. If they who signed my agreement were having such a hard time with the tire reimbursement....how did they expect me to be successful? Unbeknown to me, two months ago that dealership had been replaced by Wesley Chapel Kia from Fucillo Kia. The "Sales Manager" insisted that I pay the $256 even though he was involved in our original lease purchase and most of the original staff was still there including the General Manager. He was adamant that Wesley Chapel Kia was not responsible. He and I were both disgusted with each other so he finally walked off. I can only imagine what the people sitting at the tables (probably waiting to buy cars) in the showroom were thinking. I had asked to see the General Manager twice but was told he was interviewing and couldn't be disturbed. Meanwhile I had been there over 4 hours.....and I, who am normally a polite, calm, retired career public school teacher, was getting very perturbed. The "Sales Manager" wouldn't release my car unless I paid the $256....even after paying $500 at the time of lease signing for tire insurance. Does it really cost $256 for a tire change??? Kia's advertising is all about their 10 year warranty and here they were....not wanting to stand behind my contract which wife and I had purchased at that building from Kia, and the same people just one year ago. Finally Shawn, the General Manager, emerged and invited me to his office. It was nice to get out of the showroom and into a calmer environment and away from arguing with the "Sales Manager." Shawn had also been involved in our lease purchase originally. I explained the situation to Shawn who listened politely. The upshot is that I left with my car, a new tire, and not having to pay the $256. Shawn marked my bill "Paid in Full." If I do eventually receive a check from the tire warranty, I will be returning it to Shawn....but I believe now that Wesley Chapel will handle that tire insurance company claim. I don't care who owns that dealership. I leased that car there, from those people, and from Kia. I have it in writing. Being frustrated for over 4 hours should not be part of the agreement. If I had been Shawn I would have thrown in a tank of gas or some other recompense for the long wait and the frustration....but at least I got the new tire for which I contracted. At the end of my lease in two years I will probably lease another Sedona. I'm glad Shawn handled it in a professional manner...and if any other problems arise I will go directly to Shawn. Heaven help me if we blow another tire. Patrick, our original salesman, Heather and Shawn were all great. More
