OUR HISTORY
Walt DeBoer founded Lithia Motors in 1946 as a Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealership in Ashland, Oregon. Following Walt’s death in 1968, Walt’s son Sid along with Dick Heimann, grew the business to include 5 stores and 19 franchises in Southern Oregon. In December 1996, this collection of dealerships was transformed into Lithia Motors, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE stock symbol-LAD). We envisioned a company that would continuously grow, provide great customer service, and opportunities for employees.
TODAY
Lithia is one of America’s largest automotive retailers featuring most domestic and import franchises. Our stores serve urban and rural populations throughout the Western and Midwest United States.
We are focused on providing customers with an honest and simpler buying and service experience. We are giving customers straightforward information so that they can make confident decisions.
We believe that our local communities are our lifeblood. In addition to the employment opportunities we provide in each of our neighborhoods, we also provide contributions to charitable organizations that serve our families, friends, and customers.

My fourth Hyundai Purchase This is my fourth Hyundai I have purchased through Lithia. By far this is the best experience I've had. I want to give Pete Montalvo should receive a 10plus. He went out of his way to make this deal happen. I left without a deal but his constant communication and determination helped me finalize the deal. He not only made the deal, but do to my hectic schedule, delivered the car to me. I am a recent Cancer Patient and did not need any additional stress. His professionalism and willingness to answer any questions I had, convinced me, this is where I wanted to purchase my car. Alec Mcgee, Chelsea, and Carry Jo did a wonderful job as well. Had I not received the invite to test drive a new Tucson this deal may have not happened. I want to thank Pete personally for going that extra mile and I want you to know he is and asset to your company. I have also had my vehicle's maintained and the sales service (Carlo) is a hard working man who cares about the customers. Great job to all!! More
