Please know Mr. Weber, it’s not Longo’s policy to collect taxes on a vehicle, it’s the State of California mandating this process. Any vehicle purchased, in the State of California unless it’s towed out of the State, will need to pay California taxes and there’s nothing we can do. The quote Longo presented to orchestrate the transportation was respectfully declined. If you do have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Isaac, he’s always here to listen.

Isaac, you made a good faith offer to have my Sienna transported to Montna for around $1,000, or slightly more. I was too much of a dummy to accept your offer, both when we initially met, and yesterday when Fay and I were at Longo yesterday. We have too many cars here in LHH, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, which I bought on January 1, 2000 from Zee Motors, probably in Buena Park, not Anaheim. We need to get both cars to Montana this summer, and I could have had you ship the Sienna to my address in Montana, 218 West Seventh, and had my good neighbor Jeff, who lives at 201 West Seventh accept the car and have it unloaded in front of my house. I would have saved the $3,200 California Sales Tax, and would not have bought the $1,995 service policy. Even with the $1,000 plus transportation fee, I would have paid $4,000 less for the same Sienna, or $28,000. My son the doctor (MD) thought I paid too much for the car. Most experts (Consumer's Research) say most of these service policies are a bad deal, and I agree. Alex Lee tried to sell us another (Toyota Plus Care) policy for an additional $700, which we both declined. I have made bad financial decisions in the past, mainly impulse buying. I have 7 restored Studebakers in Montana, as well as a restored 1940 Lincoln Zephyr (V-12) as well as a 1994 Lancia Beta Zagato. (You can look these up.) and at age 82 I will have to figure out how to get rid of these, as well as a 2001 Toyota Avalon, like new, and a 2014 Chevy Impala 2LTZ, with only 52,000 miles and a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer LS. You are a good salesman, and you did right by us. It is telling that you have been at this trade in the same dealership for 21 years. There is always a dummy in a deal, and in this case, the dummy was me. As Pogo the opposum (in Al Capp's "Little Abner" newspaper comics, "We have met the enemy, and the enemy is us." You can look this up, and enjoy some of this very popular comic strip from the fifties to eights here in America. Best wishes. John F. (Jack) Weber

They offered to ship my car to Montana for around $1,000, and I should have taken them up on the offer. Although I am retired and a resident of Montana, we also have a home in SoCal on which we pay over $7,000 per year in property taxes. Montana, Oregon, and Vermont have no sales tax, and it is legal to buy a car in California and have it shipped to you in one of these states. Then it can be licsnsed in these states, avoiding the state and local taxes. California and local sales taxes in El Monte, Ca, where I bought the car, are 10.5%, while down in Orange County in Garden Grove, the tax is 8.5%, something to consider.
