Overall my first visit to McDonald Toyota was a good experience. Dayvie was great at explaining the different service packages and what my vehicle needed. Unfortunately my experience was spoiled by my visit to the parts department / pro-shop. When I entered the shop I expected to be greeted. That was not the case. After 10 minutes of looking at all the cool product, still nobody could be bothered. I wanted to ask the grumpy old white guy behind the counter what the TRD wheel and tire package was going for, but I knew from my past experience with pro shops that my inquiry would be met by annoyance and elitism. So I casually walked away, hoping that whatever was on this guy's phone was more important than a potential sale. I have spent 20+ years in the service industry, and I've helped all walks of life. I've also seen enough to know that this type of behavior is nothing new- ignore the people and they potentially go away. Matter of fact, this is pretty much the gold standard at most American car dealership parts departments. One of the many reasons why I choose not to buy domestic cars anymore. However, this behavior is not what I've come to expect from a Toyota dealership. If the grumpy old white guy doesn't like helping people, than maybe he shouldn't be working at a car dealership, or at least at a Toyota dealership. It also should be noted that his failure to acknowledge me lost a potential and sizable walk-in sale. More
